It was a great day up until 4.32pm yesterday. We’d congregated at a lovely pub in St John’s Wood, the drinks were flowing and the food was great! Spirits were highand the nerves had turned into genuine belief…

Then Rico Lewis scored within two minutes for City and the damp squib of a first half killed the party and it then seemed that in spite of a much better second half, it just wasn’t gonna be our day.

We’ll reflect on defeat at Wembley and then focus on what was always the priority – cementing a champions league place and ensuring the trips next season include Barcelona,Bayern Munich and Juve…! Brentford under the lights at The City Ground on Thursday night is now the first of five huge finals for our men in Red!

All eyesturn to the FA Cup and Wembley this weekend as it’s semi-final time for CrystalPalace, Aston Villa, Manchester City and of course the super Nottingham Forest.

Let’s be honest it wasn’t fun watching everyone else play before us – mainly because the wins they collectively achieved between them dropped Forest into sixth placeahead of kick-off at Spurs and the pressure to win was intensified to the max as, for many, it looked as though the slip-up was on! But no. On no no no…. Once again, following a set-back Nottingham Forest laid down their credentials bounced-back with another win on the road to do the premier league double over Tottenham Hotspur. It was pretty – especially in the second half and I know it was EasterMonday but the amount of crosses going into our box was enough to make even the Romans shudder. But a win is a win and a vital three points puts The Reds back in third place with five premier league games to play.

With Richard and I is a man who had to suffer just that little bit extra last night as he was sat in the Spurs end! It’s Paul Morley!

Increased heart rates, bitten nails and furrowed brows – all of that and more are bound to be evident across the Forest fan base as this gameweek gets underway in justabout an hours’ time. Someone once said “it’s a funny old game” well, that’s as maybe but I’m not laughing and I’m sure no Forest fans are this evening. An away defeat and all of a sudden many in the fanbase are on squeaky bum time… But this is a Forest team that has shown time and time again that writing them off is for fools and the spirit and togetherness in this group has overcome adversity on more than one occasion to prove they are the real deal.

Now then we all love a bit of a sing-a-long I’m sure, and there’s nothing better than brilliant lyrics over the top of a proper catchy tune, turned up to 11 and belted out for all to hear. Defeat is never a nice feeling and thankfully this season us Forest fans have hardly had to experience having our weekend trashed as the losses have been few and farbetween. Forest may come away from Villa Park this game week empty-handed (and let’s be honest when the mad five minutes kicked in we were all thinking of Bournemouthand Newcastle away right?) but the spirit and much improved second half display definitely gives us plenty of positives to ponder and we brush ourselves down,re-group and now focus on Everton at home next weekend and the other seven remaining Premier League matches in this still-fabulous season.

Even better news is that other results have certainly been favourable as both Chelsea and Man City drew 0-0 respectively today meaning the gap hasn’t been closed significantly at all and Forest still sit 3rd in the Premier League…
