Talking to Walking

Jeff and Nathalie talk about pudding en route to the beautiful fortified Tuscan city of Lucca, the home of Puccini. On the second half, Neal Beaty joins us once more to inform us about Rasputin and his junk.

On their first day in Tuscany, walking to Pontremoli, Jeff and Nathalie discuss the differences between the Amish, Mennonites, and Pennsylvania Dutch, steamship travel, cold winters, how much technology is too much, the invention of the automobile, and Batman style tunnels all within the history of the Umstead family line. Back home, they call Ryan Gould and his mother Jo Ann Butcher (and brother Russell) to verify.

In 2014, Jeff and friends embarked on a legendary journey to push a piano across town through the sleepy streets of Austin in the middle of the night. This is the story of that journey. Featuring Datri Bean, Lauryn Gould, Eddie Lehwald, Camille Charlier, Ann Wade, Chandler Wilkinson IV, Lisa Kettyle, Oliver Steck, Chuck, Ehawk, Joe Correia, and the rest of the pianopush gang.

Walking from San Gemignano to Montereggioni, Jeff and Nathalie discuss their new favorite tourist trap and their haunted stay at an 800 year old seminary before discussing swimsuits. Back home, they call Neal Beaty to delve further into the realm of swimsuits, including topics of modesty, coverage, and conservatism in the modern age.

Walking from Ponte d'Arbia to San Querico, Jeff and Nathalie tell the same story twice with a slightly different twist the second time. The first time was not recorded. Back in Paris, they call up Justin Stewart to learn more about European Starlings and unintended consequences.

Jeff and Nathalie discover they have bedbugs on their walk from Atapascio to San Miniato and try to cheer themselves up by talking about why the Bolivian Revolution took so long. Back in Paris, they welcome Carlos and Chris back to the program to get the full scoop.

Nath and Jeff walk from Sutri to Formello and talk about life on the Via Francigena on their second to last day before reaching Rome and discuss the Lanthanide Series of the Elements. On the second half, they meet up with Carlos and Chris in Montreuil and receive an education in chemistry.
