What a great time I had reconnecting with friend, amazing athlete, and #activist #pamboteler a few weeks ago. This girl has been busy, busy, busy, since our college days. The mission of #thetrueathleteproject is a more compassionate world through sport. Working across disciplines to design mindful training techniques that engage sport as a powerful tool for self-mastery and increased overall awareness.

The #oakvilleindianmounds in #northernalabama is a FREE resource and treasure available to the public for Alabama Indian Culture. This education center, pre-historic burial mound site, and recreation center is tucked away in the heart of Lawrence County. Part of the County #school system this robust facility hosts over 20,000 artifacts over 2,000 years old.

As you walk the grounds of the park you will feel the peaceful presence of a time gone by. The 20-acre lake has #free #fishing available and is open to the public.

Enjoy this interview with Anna Mullican, Cultural Resource Specialist as we discuss this incredible resource and have a tour of the grounds.

What an incredible opportunity to #visit the #jesseowensmuseum in #oakville #Alabama this past month and learn so much about this great American #hero Jesse Owens, who was born into humble beginnings and had a heart of gold. This passion project, the Jesse Owens Birthplace and Museum is dedicated to life and legacy to honor the four-time Olympiad who overcame many, many obstacles. Jesse Owens won FOUR GOLD MEDALS at the #1936Olympics in Berlin, right before the start of WWII.

Thanks to Director, Nancy Pinion for a great interview and tour of this historic treasure that inspires so many. Open to the public check the Facebook page or call for updated hours (Due to Covid)
