Deep within the shifting sands of the Desert of Doubt, Team Link meets new friends in the Gerudo and Zuna tribes, the latter being the original builders of the Pyramid that Ganondorf has trespassed upon. Following in the mysterious Gerudo tribe member’s footsteps, the Links discover the Trident of Power has been removed from it’s hidden plinth within the Pyramid. The trident’s inscription promises its wielder great power to destroy and corrupt, pressing the Links to quickly free the Purple Maiden and make haste for Frozen Hyrule and the Tower of Winds.

In search of the dark mirror, the Team Link navigate the dimly lit paths of the industrious Deku Scrubs within the Lost Woods, restore peace to a burning and besieged Kakariko Village, and obtain the Green Royal Jewel. Instead of the Dark Mirror, Link finds the ghostly apparition of Phantom Ganon within the Temple of Darkness. More mysteries are afoot! The Red Maiden is freed and all clues point toward the Desert of Doubt.

On their way back to Hyrule Castle, Link and company find swarms of aggressive Hyrulean Guards terrorizing local citizens, roaming Ghini and stalfos in the swamp, a Big Poe, and a cursed Knight of Hyrule who offers them the first royal gem. The Link squad climbs Death Mountain, dodging boulders, flames, and swarms of Deadrocks, Buzz Blobs, Hinox, and face-off with an intimidating giant bird swooping the skies - Helmaroc King. Facing swarms of enemies, the Link squad travels along the coast before arriving at the Blue Maiden’s village, currently enthralled in some dark mystery. Eventually recovering the missing children and settling tensions between the villagers and the resident mages, the Links enter the Eastern Temple, freeing the Yellow Maiden.

The seal on Vaati's prison seems to be weakening, but when Zelda and the Six Maidens open the portal to the Four Sword Sanctuary, they are each imprisoned by Link's shadowy doppelganger. Pulling the Four Sword from its plinth, the now divided Link pursues the Maidens while Vaati's vengeful presence is unleashed upon Hyrule once again.

The third episode of the Legend of Zelda Animated Series, The White Knight, brings a guest to Hyrule! Prince Facade of Arcadia comes to impress Zelda with tales of his heroic deeds. Enamored with this newcomer, Zelda is kinda mean to Link, leading to him leaving the castle altogether. But when the day needs saving, Link comes back just in the nick of time to save Zelda from Ganon's clutches. I mean, come on, it's not like the guy named "Facade" is gonna be doing any hero-ing.

Link and Midna enter the Hyrule Castle throne room to confront Ganondorf and save Zelda. Ganondorf’s dark power is terrible to behold. But Link prevails with the help of Midna’s strength, Zelda’s light arrows, and the Master Sword. Ganondorf is defeated and Link says goodbye to the Twilight Princess.
