Small city mayors in north StLouis County, express their continued opposition to any plans to consolidate their municipalities are talks of mergers with StLouis city.----
Mayors E G Shields of Pagedale and Mayor Brian Jackson of Beverly Hills mo., shared their views with their StLouis County Council representative, Senator Rita Heard Days Chairman of the County Council, on this week's episode of the kdhx podcast. ——
I'll title this episode of the kdhx podcast Tangazo," To be are Not To be!" ------
Is it better for St. Louis to maintain status quo, in both St. Louis City and St. Louis County, fragmented with 90 plus municipalities, with each having their own individual government structures. ———
is that good for the city or county are indeed the St. Louis region, is the question we addressed on this week's episode, of the kdhx podcast Tangazo. ——-
Tim Person and I were your host for this discussion, our guest included Dellwood Mayor Reggie Jones and St. Louis Cities 27th ward Alderwoman, Pamela Boyd, chairman of the Aldermanic Black Caucus, both offering the pros and cons of consolidating, the city and county into a single entity. Along with StLouis Post Dispatch Columnist, Bill Mcclelland and old friend Attorney Forriss Elliott Sr., who added some historical perspective, on past efforts to discuss merging StLouis City, into St. Louis County and racial obstacles, that prevented those discussions from advancing. ———
Attorney Elliott, recalled filing lawsuits against the Ladue school district, for their mistreatment of African American students in the late sixties, perhaps supporting the notion that StLouis County school districts, would never agree to a unitary school district, as part of a city county merger. ———
Tim Person reflects on how the fragmented governments, are a burden to the StLouis region as a whole, while I, continue insisting that a unified school district, would be of great benefit to the region, as a whole and certainly to the African American communities in St. Louis city and StLouis county. ———
Jaco as in Charles Jaco, award winning radio and television broadcast journalist ,Jones as in Michael Wesly Jones, award winning political columnist and former government official, along with Person as in Tim Person, political consultant and excellent radio host, on this week's episode of the Kdhx podcast Tangazo.———
Our subject this week is of course, the recently held 2022 midterm elections. ———
Tangazo takes an in-depth look into the historical midterm outcomes looking for the nuances that prevented a so called,"Red Wave." ———
Mikes Jones sees the midterms in the context of White America, choosing Democracy over extremism, but by a small margin whereas, Jaco is cautious about the overall impact of the elections on Donald Trumps base. ———
It's also noted that house "progressives," stood down as to not inflame are invigorate the right during these critical midterm elections. ———
This is a cerebral discussion for those of us, who really want to understand what really occurred in these 2022 midterm elections. ———
This episode of Tangazo is dedicated to the memory Dhati M. Kennedy ———
Tim Person, is your host for this episode of the kdhx podcast Tangazo, with another discussion on the importance of the upcoming November the 8th, midterm elections. ———
Our guest for this episode of Tangazo, are the African American leadership, of the St. Louis County Council. County Council Chairman, Rita Heard Days of the 1st district and County Council Vice Chairman, Shalonda Webb, of the 4th St. louis County Council district. ——
Tim, does an excellent job, of discussing the various races in St. Louis county and St. Louis city, including the race for County Executive and President of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen, all while stressing the importance of, black voter turnout. ———
There's also much discussion about the importance of the race, for the US Senate between Democrat, Bush Valentine and her MAGA supported Republican opponent, Missouri State Attorney General,Eric Schmidt. ——-
Surprisingly, neither County Council Chairman Days, nor County Council Vice Chairman Webb, have been asked to lend their support to their fellow Democrat, Bush Valentine. ———
Not only are we surprised but we are indeed disappointed, that with so much on the line, petty selfish politics, trumps everything else. ------
Rita Days and Shalonda Webb represent two County Council districts, where 85 to 90% of black voters reside in St Louis County. ------
Days is fresh off of a primary victory, that saw her beat her so called progressive backed candidate, Terry Wilson ,2 to 1. Days rolled over her opposition, who had the support of the County Executive, Sam Page, the so called Progressives, our black newspaper, the Unity pac and everything else, that they could throw, at the former 2 term State Senator and 4 term State Representative. To say that she has the overwhelming support of African Americans in her county district, is an understatement! ------
Shalonda Webb, won her seat on the St. Louis County Council by defeating Rochelle Walton and her father Elbert A Walton Jr's, well organized Unity PAC. Days and Webb are without a doubt, the two most powerful African Americans, in St. Louis County government, ignoring these two black Democratic leaders, with so much on the line in these midterm elections, is nothing but petty selfish politics, doing candidate Bush Valentine and the Democratic Party, a serious disservice, that could have serious national consequences. ———
Democrat Bush Valentine, will not prevail against MAGA supported Republican candidate, Eric Schmidt, without a massive turnout of black voters, in the red state of Missouri, in the upcoming November 8th midterm elections! Former US Congressman Bill Clay sr. wrote a book titled, "No Permanent Friends No permanent Enemies," some of these people need to read it! ———

Three critical races for the US Senate, in the southeast region of the country, who's outcomes could very well determine the fate of our American democracy. ——-
Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, offer intriguing opportunities for the Democratic Party, to expand its slim majority in US Senate.
Our panelists of commentators, are drawn from from the above mentioned states, because of their personal experiences with the campaigns and are their involvement with the politics of those states. ———
Another interesting fact about these three close senatorial races, is that they involve four African American candidates, including incumbent Georgia Senator, Reverend Raphael Warnock. ———
Attorney Forriss Elliott Sr., longtime Regional Director of the NAACP Legal Fund's Redress office in the St. Louis, before relocating to Atlanta some 30 years ago, speaks candidly of his disdain for Trump backed candidate, Herschel Walker's' effort to unseat, Senator Warnock in the November midterm elections. Elliott also discusses the Stacy Abrams race for Governor of the state of Georgia. ———
Tangazo commentator Dorothy Inman-Johnson, first African American woman mayor of Tallahassee Florida, a political operative along with her husband Reverend Lee Johnson, gives us an up close look at Florida's politics.
Our focus in Florida is on the campaign of Democratic Congresswoman Val Deming's, who is waging a fierce campaign to unseat incumbent Senator Marko Rubio, the candidates are separated by less than 2 percentage points. ——-
We also welcome Dr. Antonio Knox PhD and 40th Grand Basileus, of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Dr Knox, is a North Carolina native and personal friend Of Chief Justice Cherie Beasley, Democratic candidate for the US Senate. ———
Judge Beasley, is challenging Republican Congressman, Ted Bud for the Senate seat of Retiring Senator Richard M. Burr. The DNC has began directing more funding to the Beasley campaign ,which has drawn within 1 percentage point of Republican Congressman Bud. A victory in that campaign, would greatly improve Democratic chances to maintain control of the US Senate and perhaps save our American Democracy. ———
Congratulations, to my KDHX colleague and friend Edie Anderson, on her selection to the National Black Radio Hall of Fame! ———

Last nights taping of the KDHX podcast Tangazo, was more than uplifting, it was encouraging, it was a reminder that black people doing great things, can also be selfless and magnanimous! ———
I felt refreshed after an hours conversation with writer, filmmaker and podcaster Nicole Franklin and Tom Bailey, Vice President of Development and Special Events, for the St. Louis Metropolitan Urban League. Tangazo.kdhx.org. Nicole, is the daughter the late Don Franklin, one of the founders of the GSLABJ and one of the first black journalist, employed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She shares the story of how her father an East St. Louis resident, approached the newspaper asking for more coverage of east side events, while noting the lack of people of color at the liberal leaning daily. Mr. Franklin who wasn't a journalist at that time, so impressed the newspaper that they provided a journalism fellowship, leading to his employment as one of the first African American journalist hired, by the St. Louis Post Dispatch Newspaper. ———
Nicole has used her pedigree well, winning numerous awards for documentaries, while working on the Today Show and OWN TV. Nicole, is also cohost of one of the most unique podcast I've ever listened to, tilted "Before You Go TV," check it out and you too will love it. ———
Tom Bailey, founder and president of the Missouri Black Expo, which was one of the largest Black Expos in the nation from 1992-2013, says joining Michael Patrick McMillian and the St. Louis Metro Urban League, was an extension of his commitment to uplifting the African American community. Tom was a sales manager with KMOV tv, when a client of his inspired him to develop his idea of an expo, to provide resources for the underserved black communities in St. Louis. ———
Needless to say, the Black Expo was a smashing success with attendees gaining access to resources, in the areas of youth development, health education and community development. ———
As Vice President of Development and Special Events for the STL Urban League, Tom is responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising, for the 55 programs and services that are administered, to over one hundred and fifty thousand persons from low and middle income and underserved communities, in the St. Louis metro area. ——- Bailey was also instrumental in the development and implementation, of the Urban Leagues 2020 massive COVID-19 relief drive-thru food distribution, that served over 100,000 distressed clients with over 5 million dollars worth of food and health and personal safety equipment. ———
