Today we have a very talented musician and artist on the show. Nick Johnson is the inspirator and plays acoustic guitar in a fingerstyle fashion. This means he is basically a one man band on the guitar by incorporating percussion, lead, and rhythm guitar parts all at the same time. The craziest part is he sings as well! Its really fun to watch this style of music performed so here is some links to both the songs played on today's show. At times, Nick describes how he can be playing two different time signatures on each hand and even sometimes singing simultaneously. That's what his whole song "Split Decision" is all about.

Most aspiring musicians and artists have a common goal of turning their music careers  into full time jobs. At the time of this episode, Nick Johnson is currently striving to make that goal into a reality. This is no easy task and can be the reason for people giving up their instrument entirely. Nick speaks about how he is able to juggle being a giging musician while working a day job. I'll give you a hint, it involves a lot of discipline and time management.

Who makes the artists vision of their song accurately come to life? Sometimes they even exceed their expectations. The producer does and in this case, Mr. Jones does.  Hear about the long nights and hours of listening to a melody or parts of a song over and over again. The producer does all thats necessary in the name of making the songs the best it can be. Not only does a producer have to have good ears and an impeccable sense of tempo, they must possess very accommodating relationship skills. Balancing on the beam of knowing when to give in and speak up all while keeping the present recording artist happy is a very delicate trait that takes refining. Mr. Jones says he even likes to build a relationship outside the studio with the artists he likes to work with. Getting to know how the artist uniquely functions while their creating happens to be very valuable when in the studio and the artist is having trouble making a particular music decision. Say they are trying to decide how they want to overdub some of their vocals or their instrument. Being familiar with their personality and musical taste can aid the producer to give proper guidance whenever they are asked for their creative opinion.

What happened last night?

After waking up from a good night sleep I woke up to a computer that would not turn on and it made me think. Overcoming adversity is very challenging at times. I like to turn to two traits, adaptation and innovation. In this episode, I used my iPhone 6 plus to podcast from my backyard where I introduce a new type of episode, Nick's personal song breakdown. I give some insight into the app I used to pull off this task to make up for his absense of my computer due to a computer meldown. I will be podcasting from my phone to give you a little perspective on the type of artist I am until my computer returns from repair. The song I will be sharing is called Night Terrors. Everyone has them and one night I could not sleep so I started to write about the thoughts and feelings behind having night terrors.
