What is tapering?
Tapering is reducing the amount of training time on the days prior to your competition. Tapering is not about reducing the intensity or effort that you or your horse puts into training but the actual duration that you work them for, this is key. Tapering is a tried and tested method to improve performance at your competition and has been used successfully in human athletes over the past 30 years but isn't so widely known in the equestrian community.
