In today's episode on TaPod we sit down with Simon Topper - Director at Referoo.
Let's be honest completing references is one of the most mundane and labour-intensive stages in the recruitment process. It's here that we are likely to bring in our own bias and even cut corners. So why not outsource?
It's fast & simple and you have the option of completing reference checks via email, SMS or phone.
That's not all we talk about though. We delve into the UK - Recfest experience and why one of Referoo's most well-known personalities had an issue with his own name... fascinating!
Today on TaPod we have a WORLD EXCLUSIVE! Simon McSorley and the team at Crew Talent surveyed Candidates on what benefits they wanted to see from a prospective new employer... Then they checked over 1000 Career Sites to see what benefits (if any) they were communicating. The results are simply amazing, and here's 1 cheeky stat to get you started... Less than 30% of Career Sites mention any benefits at all... let that sink in...
Oh & by the way, Craig flies solo as Lauren was sick (clearly that meant no swears in the episode!).
One final note on Employee Benefits to Prospective Candidates as Simon says (see what I did there? Simon says...)
'You Can't Sell a Secret...' You'll get it by the end of the episode.
In this (very brief) Tapod episode recorded in London, we reflect on Recfest Knebworth. In the fields that have graced Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Oasis and Robbie Williams we travelled to the greatest TA Festival ever seen. Over 4,500 attendees and a host of the smartest and most entertaining experts... the most progressive tech and dare I say it... the most generous vendors on the planet. We listened, we networked (well Lauren did 98% of that), we had a wee refreshment, we danced and we soaked it all in. It was amazing!
This week on TaPod we catch up with an old friend - Olga Barrett - Senior Manager TA @Epam Systems APAC.
Olga shares tips and challenges Epam has had over the past 12 months as they grew their headcount by over 1,000.
It's fun and entertaining with a side of TA knowledge... just how we like it.
Thanks so much to Referoo for supporting us this month and it was great to see you head up the Aussie contingent @ Recfest UK
On today's episode, we have a great old chin wag with Belinda Leon - Employer Branding Specialist at Bendigo & Adelaide Bank.
Up to 40% of the population lives with a neuro-diverse condition (mostly undiagnosed). What are you doing to engage and understand your workforce better? And for that matter what are you doing to provide a recruitment process that is inclusive for up to 40% of your candidates?
Let's get some insights shall we?
Thanks to our brilliant sponsor of the month - Referoo for your ripping support of TaPod!
This week on TaPod we have a sit down with David Bell - Group GM Talent Management @ Toll Group. Talk about rebuilding an entire function from the ground up & I mean tech stack, process, personnel and strategy... the whole operation. We learned a lot and I bet you will too!

On this week's episode of TaPod we take the opportunity to catch up with the winners of the Internal Talent Awards for Talent Professional of the Year - Corporate & Enterprise... Kate Graney & Stefan Welack.
It's very easy to see why these 2 were selected by the judging panel and if you want to learn a thing or two about Talent Acquisition you have definitely come to the right place!
Thanks to our amazing sponsor VideoMyJob for your brilliant support.
We like to think of ourselves at TaPod as true trailblazers. We talk to the smartest people about the biggest recruitment challenges and this one is about as BIG as it gets.
We are entering a really interesting time in global labour markets. Rising interest rates and inflation will affect the recent salary spike as companies look to reduce costs. At the same time recruitment is forging ahead at an alarming rate.
How do you attract candidates when you can't use $$$ as your weapon? Candidates WILL be more discerning about moving. Stability and Culture become key motivators... But do words on a career site truly convey your culture and values effectively? The simple answer is 'No'
Today we speak to Dave Cervelli - Global VP of Growth @VideoMyJob about their exciting new solution that we think WILL revolutionise the entire industry. It's a 'widget' but not as you know it and we invite you to listen in and like us, if you are convinced... become an early adopter.
In the second episode this week, we catch up with the winners of the Best Career Website ITA 2021, Karly George - Principal Candidate Engagement & Recruitment Branding from BHP.
In a world where job application abandonment is at an all-time high and the competition for candidates is a very real struggle - what are you doing to 'humanise' your process?
With the help of award sponsor Adam Walker from Avature, we get under the hood of the BHP career website to understand just why it's different from the rest.
'At a macro level the largest impact of our careers website has been the significant change in our unique application rate which has moved from average of 18% where it sat for the last three years to a current average of 30%'
Thanks to VideoMyJob for your support for the month of June.
In this week's episode, we catch up with the winners of the Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion ITA 2021, Peter Szilagyi - Strategic Sourcing Lead & Karly George - Principal Candidate Engagement & Recruitment Branding from BHP.
When you set yourself ambitious diversity targets how do you succeed? How do you attract women into mining? Where do you reach Indigenous candidates? All questions and others are answered as we are ably supported by award sponsor Dudley Levell from Criteria Corp.
Via the “Bold Talent Acquisition Strategy” Gender diversity hiring at BHP has increased from 30% in 2019 to over 50% in 2021 (and in the month of May 2021 reached 60%). Indigenous hiring rates have reached a peak of 14%. It's a fascinating listen.
