In this landmark episode of Tarot La La, Lewis sits down with his mom, recently discovered living in Pahrump, NV. Across the gulf of thirteen years of absence, they have a candid conversation about their lives and how they've lived them. The cards, as always, provide their guidance. Post-script features a cathartic conversation with Lewis's younger sister Isabelle (aka Lingling) Sequeira in which they unpack the experience. It's a long one, folks.  

What's that on the horizon? It's a brand-new Tarot La La for the ages. 

After his mom resurfaces after 13 years of absence, Lewis - along with his trusty co-host and also wife Babs - uses the Tarot to gain insight into hers and Lewis's current state of mind.

Lingling Sequeira, my little sister, and I don’t talk that often, but we should. Despite not being in each others’ lives for years we seem to have a lot in common. We’re both stand-up comedians. Both big into Tarot. We even take the same antipsychotic!   

The Tarot guides us through a long cathartic conversation that spans surprising news about my mom’s diagnosis, suppressed childhood memories, and reassurances that neither of us are crazy, just a little brain-damaged. 

We begin by revisiting a card we drew last week: the Eight of Cups, a card which indicates it's time to leave. Then Lewis opens up a little more about his mom's disappearance ten years ago.

We draw a three-card spread to gain insight into Linda's decision to leave and Babs makes a point about self-sacrifice that brings Lewis some peace and understanding. 

My mom left when I was 20. No explanation, no note. No one knows why she left.… but does the Tarot???

When Lewis and Babs ask the Tarot about their romantic destiny they draw the Death card. 

Do cars go to heaven?

Federal officers bear down on PDX and dish out the pain. Protestors randomly abducted in unmarked vans. With all this in mind, a terrified Lewis talks about a spread he devised to help fortify his spirit as the Portland Black Lives Matters protests situation evolves

Babs revisits the Star card and how its message of accepting gifts from Nature can leave one feeling more serene, and calm, but also vibrant and alive.
