Every oil has a different smoke point which makes different oils perfect for different cooking methods. But what is a smoke point? It's the temperature at which the oil stops shimmering and starts to burn. One of the most popular cooking oils is olive oil because, unless it's extra-virgin olive oil, it has a smoke point of 465°-470°.
