"People work in this sector because they're passionate about the work they do and they feel it makes a difference. We're here because we're givers and that's a real problem for wellbeing because we give, often, at the expense of ourselves." Holly Snape shares about her hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Holly talks about introducing a wellbeing programme for her kaimahi and the impacts that's had. 

"I'm good at telling other people's stories but sometimes it's my own that I struggle the most with because it's always been about our whānau, our community." Natalia Sexton shares her hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Natalia says she remains acutely aware of the need to build and take on those things we learnt during COVID to ensure our practices and the way we work going forward benefits.

"I care so much about communities but I need to get myself into good health and be well so I can serve others." Kodrean Eashae shares about his hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Kodrean talks about how he is working on relaxing and slowly learning about how to take time for himself.

"I've learnt over the last couple of years that it's about making hauora a priority, blocking in time in my day that enables me to do something for my own wellbeing." Michelle Kitney shares her hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Michelle talks about the line between passion and perfectionism, the mindset shift required, and learning to say no. Michelle and Rochelle also share about the origins of Tātou tātou.

"I had to learn and discover that I could look after myself, I could look after my mental health." Sabina Larsen shares her hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Sabina talks about the time when she was really struggling and had to learn how to look after herself.

"Because the responsibility I feel to lift up my community means that I get pulled in a whole lot of different ways and it can be difficult to manage." Fole Finau shares his hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Fole talks about his journey to find an equilibrium between the tension of giving and the importance of looking after his family.

"I want to make sure that my time in community is not at the expense of time with my whānau." Whetu Campbell (Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi) shares his hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Whetu shares how it took him a long time to get the right balance and make sure his mahi is not at the expense of what he's doing or why he's doing it.

"All the times I've faked looking after myself and then I have this new calm energy, I'll just go and put it into work again or a creative project or supporting others." Janie Walker shares her hauora journey with Tuihana and Rochelle. Janie is working through how she can change the world, look after herself, and model behaviour that values hauora for her kaimahi (staff). She shares her journey through COVID and how she's having to learn to REALLY listen to her body.

Volunteering and community work is not 9-5 and often done around paid work and raising families. The pressures of time and empathy can take its toll on our hauora / wellbeing. Tātou tātou is a collection of interviews with community champions who share their challenges and ups and downs with a focus on how they manage their wellbeing and support others they serve to do the same.
