Celtics beat the Magic 126-120 tonight after an impressive performance from both Jayson Tatum and Derrick White. While Tatum was the high scorer with 40pts continuing his incredible start to the season, it was Derrick White that shined the most to me. White chipped in with 27pts 4reb 4ast a steal and a huge charge drawn late in the game. He also shot 5-9 from 3 which is a revelation this year. He was not a great shooter for the team last year but this whole preseason and start to this season, his release seems to be faster and his form looks fluid so this could be a huge addition this year.

The Celtics offense was truly a tale of two halves. In the first half, the Celtics shot 14-27 (52%) from 3 and assisted on 17 of 23 fgm made. In the second half the Celtics shot 5-20 (20%) from 3 and only assisted on 7 of 19fgm so you can clearly tell that shots weren't falling at the same clip but they also got away from moving the ball as well. Even though the offense did their job by putting up 126, the defense certainly lacked in this one. The Magic are a fun team that loves to run which isn't ideal in a back to back but there really isn't an excuse for giving up 120 pts to this team so the Celtics really need to get back to their roots and make defense a priority. I do not expect them to act like a #1 defense without Timelord or Rob but they still need to be better than they were tonight on that end of the floor. This certainly wasn't a perfect game but JB said it best after last game against Miami, the scary part is there are still a lot of areas for them to improve on. The Celtics are now 3-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season and look to continue that on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls.
