선배 & 후배

Basically, 선배 refers to someone who entered your organization, such as a school or company, earlier than you. And people who enter your organization later than you are your 후배. For schools or big companies, a lot of new students or new employees enter every year. Those who enter at the same time as you are your 동기.

Today, I am going to introduce an idiomatic expression related to spring, which is 봄을 타다. If someone who knows a little Korean hears the word 타다, they would probably think of "to ride" or "to get on," but the expression doesn't mean "to ride the spring." When spring comes around, some people lose their appetite, and they don't feel like doing anything, then they say that they are 봄을 탄다.
