Our theme for the month of March is "CLEARING." Given the deep weight the world is carrying at the moment, it feels like an appropriate place to pause and just consider how we practice peace within ourselves. How we deescalate from within. How we clear and make space for listening, restoration, grieving. So, we'll be spending March contemplating the practice of clearing with our tea and with our inner quiet. Come sit with us and be in community.
We're back after a little spring break last week! And today, our monthly guest, jess young chang, joins us to lead a contemplation about clearing as both a form of letting go (a verb) and also a space (a noun). jess is currently pursuing her Master's at Harvard Divinity School, with a focus on the nature of the body and the Divine in both Tantric and Christian traditions. She is also a yoga teacher, as well as women's health advocate, from Chicago, IL. You can reach Jess at http://www.adevotedyogi.com/.

Today's session is about establishing trust with our body and our senses as a means to assist us with this working of letting go and clearing away. Also, in this episode, we want to send an extra THANK YOU to our tea friends around the world, as we mark a special milestone: over 500 regular listeners, from North America, North Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, and Oceania. Thank you so much for being on this journey with us these last 2 years!

Today's session centers on finding a place within our own body for beginning this work, including guided breathwork and physical connecting practice.

Our theme for February in Tea & Contemplation is "Deep Listening." Winter is a very inward, reflective time of year, and perhaps a time where we are extra prone to absorbing excessive messages. Whether they originate internally from our own insecurities, or externally because we're just living in a period of nearly debilitating intake of everything, all the time.
This month, Adam and I sit with how to filter and tune out the noise, learning to tend to this inner monologue as a garden - one that needs frequent, attentive weeding.
Today's session is one for sitting with what we're hearing, even in our most painful moments, while honoring the call of our own sovereignty. (the recording of this session takes place as news of the invasion of Ukraine is breaking.)
We invite back into our space our friend and regular guest host, jess young chang, to lead our contemplation. jess is currently pursuing her Master's at Harvard Divinity School, with a focus on the nature of the body and the Divine in both Tantric and Christian traditions. Our theme for February in Tea & Contemplation is "Deep Listening." Winter is traditionally held as the season when our ears are at their greatest sensitivity, as our other senses are resting in the absence of normal seasonal stimulation. It's also of course a very inward, reflective time of year, and perhaps a time where we are extra prone to absorbing unhelpful messages. Whether they originate internally from our own insecurities, or externally because we're just living in a period of debilitating noise.
This month, Adam and I sit with how to filter and tune out the noise, learning to tend to this inner monologue as a garden - one that needs frequent, attentive weeding. In today's session, we talk about accessing that deep listening through physical practice, and how we handle and sit with what we encounter in that space.

Our January theme is "Making a Place." Covid continues to impose intense restrictions on our ability to travel and to commune with the world outside of our homes. For many of us, it is a time of confinement, of being stuck in place. Psychologist and Holocaust survivor Victor Frankl posited that, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Today, we close this series with a contemplation on what home means - to come home, to be of a place. And what it means to gain and lose places and homes, too.
This week's practice features our regular guest and dear friend here in the tea space, jessica young chang. Jess is currently pursuing her Master's at Harvard Divinity School, with a focus on the nature of the body and the Divine in both Tantric and Christian traditions. She is also a yoga teacher, as well as women's health advocate, from Chicago, IL. You can reach Jess at http://www.adevotedyogi.com/ or on IG @jessyoungchang.

This month in Tea & Contemplation, we respond to isolation by invoking the power and magic of PLACE. What does it mean to be of a place? And how might we find nourishment in the art of placing, arranging, and intentional configuration?
Today's subject is how we care for the items and conditions of our space, and how this care itself is a way of understanding our own needs, to be seen, to be appreciated, and to live in wholeheartedness. Our intention in this series is to situate ourselves anew: to recognize the possibility inherent in our surroundings, and this most sacred place we call the body. We hope you enjoy!
