Everyone knows the feeling of having overslept and trying to beat the clock as you get ready to get out of the house on time. To avoid that kind of high-drama morning, you need to make sure you have gotten the sleep you need the night before, that you get up on time and not sleep through the snooze button and that you allow yourself all the time you need to get ready for your day.

Many teachers who talk with me while mulling their career options wonder if they need to return to school for another degree in a new area. Most of the time, my best advice is  "no." You don't need a new university or college degree, even though you may need training in a new area.

If you decide you need training, do your "due diligence" and make sure you get trained with a reputable and/or accredited program.

Consider WHO you want to become in your next career and HOW you can best become who you wish to be professionally.

I just got back from a vacation in Key West, Florida. I have had a visit to Key West on my bucket list for a long time, and given that I had a big birthday coming up last week, I wanted to celebrate it in Key West.

I learned about "island time" while there, and it occurred to me that "island time" was just what I needed. So I slowed down, relaxed, and came home feeling rested and rejuvenated.

Everyone needs to take "island time" occasionally to help manage their stress more effectively. When was the last time you took time away from your day-to-day routine? Think about it and plan a trip for yourself. Take time for yourself. Make your version of "island time" to help manage stress proactively.

When job hunting, it's important that you use your network of friends, family, and perhaps even your colleagues to help you uncover possible opportunities that you wouldn't otherwise know about.

In this week's episode, Kitty shares a couple of anecdotal examples of real people who found new jobs by sharing that they were looking for a new opportunity with their network.

You can also use your LinkedIn network, so it's important to expand your network using LinkedIn.

Kitty also shares the importance of learning how to conduct #informationalinterviews when #jobhunting.

I am embarrassed that the last podcast I offered was on June 9, 2022, and here it is, the middle of September. I apologize to any of my "faithful listeners" who have been waiting for me to offer something new.

As I explain in this week's episode, the problem with my absence boils down to falling out of my routine.

On June 10, I lost my iPhone. About that same time, I got locked out of my Macbook Pro. I also dropped and broke my iPad at about that same time.

If you are a Mac user or you know one, you know that everything is interconnected and while I had loads of stuff on the "cloud" I couldn't get to it, and I couldn't get to my

This week, Kitty talks about the importance of preparing for an interview whether it is a telephone screening call, a virtual, remote interview by Skype or Zoom, etc., or in person.

She stresses the importance of preparing by doing research on the company and understanding as much as possible about the company, its mission and vision, its culture, and the role you would be playing if you got the job.

Learn what you need to do to prepare including preparing questions to ask at the end.  For suggestions for the kinds of questions to ask at the end of the interview, check out this article from The Muse: “When Your Interviewer Kicks It to You, Ask These Smart Questions.”
