Teaching the Heirs

As Chris Wright puts it, self-control is not a quality that God needs. But our sinful, human nature does need to be controlled. This is one of the most important parts of Christian discipleship. Join Laney and Heather as they talk through what self-control looks like and raise some questions to ponder.

In this episode, we learn that contrary to what one might think, there is a lot of strength in gentleness. Gentleness comes from humility. Since this thinking goes against our current culture, we thank the Holy Spirit for the work he does to accomplish this in our lives. God has always shown himself to be faithful to his people. It is one of his most comforting attributes. But what does it look like for us to be a faithful people? Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives to help us fight against our consumeristic, selfish tendencies to be a faithful people and continue to do our Father’s work.

Jesus was committed to doing good and in this He fulfilled the Father’s will. In Him, we can learn what it is like to be a people that are committed to doing good and reflect Jesus’ work on the cross and glorify our Father. Join us as we talk through this aspect of the fruit of the Spirit.

Thinking of others first and putting their needs ahead of our own is tough. It is even harder to teach kids how to be kind. Join Heather and Laney as they talk about Jesus and his kindness and how we can teach this aspect of the fruit of the Spirit to our kids.
