Time lag is real! There is both a "front-facing" time lag and "back-facing" time lag.

Backwards: The seeds you plant today you will reap down the road. When? Who knows - but it will likely be several months at least.

Forwards: Always being forward-thinking in your own mind creates a constant results-oriented time lag where your current reality will not align with your future expectations. And it's not supposed to! That is the point!

Where do you suffer from time lag, either backwards or forwards?

You're either going forwards or you're going backwards. There is no neutral gear in life. When you wake up in the morning, you either hit the ground running or you start falling behind. One of the big problems with this world today is that we all look on our cell phones first thing when we wake up, or we turn on the news or go straight to social media and without even realizing it, we place ourselves in a negative mindset off the bat.

Does this sound condusive to an environment in which you can "run your day?" - No

How can you be better about getting yourself out of neutral?

Ever watch the Lion King? Of course you have - that's a stupid question. Remember when Simba eats the bugs under the log and Timone says "Slimy, yet satisfying?" That is how life is sometimes.

Sometimes you have to put up with the slimy shit in order to get the satisfaction out of the work you are doing. The result doesn't always show up the way you imagined it, and the work to get there isn't always glamorous. But hey, if it were easy - everyone would do it, right?

What "slimy" part of your world do you need to embrace more?

Ultimately, you can't go anywhere in life if you aren't willing to get radically clear about where you are. If you ignore the facts of what IS for you, the place you say you are going is a fantasy. It is pure bull shit.

I lived in the land of fantasy for a lot of years looking back, but the process of getting super clear in my life across all of my domains gave me the opportunity to move forward based on a foundation of truth and power.

Where in your life do you need to get super clear and be real about the facts you are facing?

Sometimes it's ok to take a day off or stop pushing towards something. This might seem counter-intuitive to what I talk about every day, but the reality is that no one can be "on" all the time. There is an ebb & flow to life that must be respected or you will burn yourself out before you even get started. 

It's not about hustling all the time, but it's not about relaxing all the time either. It is about finding that balance that works for you and is respectable to everyone else in your life.

Listen to this episode as many times as you need to. Listen when you are thinking about quitting, getting depressed or can't see a way out. Listen when the negative voices are too loud. Listen when you have no other people around you to give encouraging words.

Ultimately, there is a lot of confusion that happens in our lives. Confusion happens within every single area whether we want it to or not.

The key to overcoming this confusion is to finally reach a level of clarity in your life.

Many of us in the younger generation have been so confused by what we are supposed to get out of life. We were taught, trained and educated to go to college, get the job and eventually pay off debt, but that approach simply doesn't cut it anymore. Not only is more schooling pursued, but additional debt and larger circumstances are taken on to compensate for this lack of income and increase in global competition.
