Barry's guest for this episode is Maysoon Eshelman. Maysoon is the Executive Director of Campus IT Partnerships (CITP), creating and fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, innovation, and value across the University of Arizona. Maysoon relies on proactive business relationship management for building trust and improving partnerships across the university, which is at the core of a business-driven service delivery strategy. Over the past twenty-four years, she has held several leadership positions within the IT community on the University of Arizona (UA) campus that were direct IT campus initiatives as well as those that created a community among IT professionals. Chairing the steering committee for the inaugural UA IT Summit event and being a co-founder of the UA Women in Technology group, are two examples of encouraging and strengthening the campus community in IT. Maysoon has 20 years of experience supporting and providing leadership to the Human Resources Division and the College of Medicine – Tucson before joining UITS in January 2021.

Barry's guest for this episode is Darcy Van Patten, the University of Arizona’s Chief Technology Officer. Darcy is responsible for enabling high-quality digital experiences in support of day-to-day productivity and collaboration, learning, support services, digital engagement, administrative services, and student services. Her University of Arizona portfolio includes the departments of Administrative Technologies, Digital Experience Technologies, and Student and Academic Technologies. Darcy leads through the lens of innovating the business through technology enablement and human-centered collaborative problem solving – always with an eye toward creating the most valuable outcomes in support of the University’s mission and delivering a high-quality digital experience for our faculty, staff, students, and strategic constituents.

 Darcy has been with the University of Arizona since 2017, when she led Student and Academic Technologies and the Trellis CRM program. She was appointed CTO in April 2021. Darcy has over 15 years of experience in product design, software development, and IT in higher education, with additional experience as a researcher, business consultant, and non-profit leader. She has a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the University of Washington and a Master of Science in Digital Audience Strategy from Arizona State University. 

Barry's guest for this episode is Wendy Epley. Wendy is a Principal Analyst in the Information Security Office—Government, Risk, and Compliance team. In her role, she oversees information security in contracting. This means that if a unit needs help understanding risks in a third-party agreement, Wendy will help them analyze the risks so they can make a risk-informed decision. Wendy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Business and a Master of Science degree in Regulatory Trade Compliance. She also has several certifications in export controls and CMMC.

Barry's guest for this episode is Jeff Kohler. Jeff is the Associate Athletic Director, of IT and HR Integration for Arizona Athletics.  In his role, Jeff oversees the IT team, a web team, and the creative services team. The creative service team oversees broadcasting. Jeff and his team exercise masterful skill in integrating an array of technologies into the production of live-action sports at the University of Arizona.

Barry's guest for this episode is Ian MacSpadden Chief Technology Officer at  Arizona Public Media. Ian has leveraged his facility design experience for the University’s public media sector for the last ten years.  At Arizona Public Media (AZPM), he leads the team that has designed their greenfield IP-based TV, radio, and streaming facility that broke ground in January 2024. The facility is designed to be a sharable model for public media with the implementation of VR studios, SMPTE 2110 video routing and impactful spaces for community engagement.  At AZPBS he helped launch the first PBS station in ATSC 3.0 through a partnership with the PEARL Group’s Phoenix model market test. He then upgraded their studio & field production systems to 4K capability from lens to final edit, which helped convince the PBS NewsHour to partner and locate their West Coast Bureau in their studios. 

Barry's guest in this episode is Tim Nitz. Tim is the Assistant Director of Campus IT Partnerships, managing a team of Senior Implementation Analysts, supporting campus-wide IT improvement initiatives that impact tens of thousands of users. In 2021 he won the University of Arizona Team Award for Excellence for his work building information systems and processes that helped keep the University operational during the COVID crisis. His passion is creating order out of chaos, improving the lives of end users, and creating well-oiled solutions that increase quality, lower costs, improve efficiency, and make all stakeholders happier. Tim developed, owned and operated a Web-based music store in 1995 when the Web was in its infancy, and have been deeply involved in improving IT and managing IT teams since that time. 

Barry's guest for this episode is Lanita Collette. Lanita is the University of Arizona’s Deputy Chief Information Officer. As the University’s Deputy CIO, Lanita leads multiple teams providing efficient, secure, and robust technology services that are the critical foundation for enabling teaching, research, and the service mission of the University. She has been with the University of Arizona since 2017, first as the Chief Information Security Officer, and was appointed to Deputy CIO in September 2019. From December of 2023 until July of 2024 Collette served as Acting CIO.

Barry's guest for this episode is Teddy Lopez, Application Development Manager in Administrative Technologies at the University of Arizona, who oversees the UAccess Employee, EDGE Learning, and UAlert technical support teams. She is a Tucson native and a University of Arizona Alumni.  Her master's degree is in Human Resources & Consulting from ASU.  She has worked at the university for 26 years in various roles until joining UITS with the Mosaic project.  

Barry's guest for this episode is Tyson Korhonan. Tyson is the lead workstation endpoint management architect at the University of Arizona.  Born and raised just blocks from the University, he secured a job in 2004 as a desktop support student worker within the Financial Services Office.  Tyson progressively increased his scope of duties and responsibilities, culminating in directing all aspects of information technology for multiple business affairs divisions.  In 2021, an opportunity to switch gears and deep dive into building a university-scale workstation endpoint management system was too enticing to pass up.  Today, he continues to dedicate his time and effort to building and maturing this critical service.

Barry’s guest for this episode is Steve Machtley. Steve is the Assistant Dean for Information Technology Services with the College of Health Sciences at the University of Arizona. In this role, he is responsible for designing and implementing the new college’s IT ecosystem from the ground up. Having started as a student worker, Steve now has over 20 years of experience leading technology services in support of health education, research, and innovation for numerous colleges in the University of Arizona Health Sciences.
