As the Interim Senior Director, Nikolas supports teams driving process, innovation, and quality delivery in the realms of service management and identity and access management. I also have had the joy of teaching UNIV101 and 301 courses for the Office of General Education for the last three years. I have been with the university for almost 19 years, serving in various IT and non-IT roles on campus. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from Kansas State University, a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Arizona, and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University. My career in IT began in 2009 as a Business Analyst for Enrollment Management on the Mosaic project implementation. Since then, I have consistently leveraged my understanding of technology, human behavior, and project management to drive successful outcomes in major university initiatives. 

Barry's guest in this episode is Daniel Mayhew. Daniel is the Director of Information Technology for Business Affairs Shared Services, a division of Business Affairs Technology Services. He began his career at the University of Arizona in 2006 at the CatCard office as an electronic field services technician tasked with maintaining and repairing the chip readers across campus. After taking advantage of learning opportunities provided by the University of Arizona, Daniel joined the Financial Services IT team as desktop support. Soon after, he moved to the Systems and Infrastructure team, eventually leading the Systems and Application Development teams, and finally taking over the direction of the entire department and spearheading the transformation from Financial Services IT to Business Affairs Shared Services IT. Daniel's focus is now on assisting Business Affairs units with their cloud adoption journey as part of the institution's centralization initiative.

Barry's guest for this episode is Gary Winham. Gary is a senior identity developer at Cirrus Identity, which he joined upon retiring from the University of Arizona in 2023 after 28 years of service. A "builder" who is passionate about developing elegant solutions to challenging problems, Gary has over 3 decades of experience in higher education information technology -- including software development, enterprise systems architecture, identity and access management, and cloud technologies. During his tenure at the University, he played a key role in architecting and managing several foundational IT services, including UA NetID/NetID+, WebAuth, Shibboleth, EDS, and Grouper.

Barry's guest for this episode is Cameron Green. Cameron is the Acting Director of Campus Web Services at the University of Arizona, where he oversees the strategy, development, and maintenance of the university's vast digital presence. With a focus on user experience, web accessibility, and scalable web solutions, Cameron plays a key role in ensuring the university's web platforms effectively serve students, staff, and faculty. With a strong background in both leadership and technology, he contributes to shaping the university's digital landscape, creating a unified web experience, and fostering innovation in higher education technology.

Barry’s guest for this episode is Tim Schwab, Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Arizona. Tim  has been with the university since March 2018. He served as Executive Director of Administrative Technologies, overseeing applications such as HCM, financials, research, contract management, document storage, and EDGE Learning, among others. In his role as CISO, Tim is dedicated to developing and leading the university's information security program, safeguarding its assets, applications, systems, and technology while driving business advancement.

Barry's guest for this episode is Michael Griffith, who is the Director of Digital Initiatives at the College of Education. In this role, Michael designs technology-driven learning solutions that enhance student engagement and outcomes across online and hybrid courses. He combines a decade in broadcast television with a background in web development to create instructional (and fun!) learning modules. Michael has taught undergraduate courses in Web Development and Human-Computer Interaction, and he is passionate about teaching robotics and programming to K-12 teachers as part of the STEMAZing program at the Pima County School Superintendent’s office. His work fosters equitable, accessible, and impactful learning environments for diverse student populations.

Barry's guest for this episode is Meredith Aronson. Meredith is the Director of Customer Relationship Management & Digital Experience Services at the University of Arizona.  She guides product vision and engagement and offers service leadership to the agile and innovative Trellis team to accomplish these goals.   Using a diversity of experiences in corporate, startup, research, and government contexts, she has crafted a career following her deep curiosity for people, technology, and big hairy problems. She was only peripherally in IT until 2014, when she joined the UA to help develop and implement enterprise software, ultimately joining the nascent Trellis team in 2018.  She first came to Tucson with her graduate advisor from MIT to finish a PhD in Materials Science (emphasis in Anthropology) at the University of Arizona, adding to a BS in Engineering Science from Penn State University, demonstrating that there are many paths to IT leadership. 

Barry's guest for this episode is Mandi Cross. Mandi is the university's Cloud team lead. She has 20 years of experience in higher education IT, working her way up from a starting role with student desktop support, into systems administration, service desk management, and now leading a team of Cloud engineers and architects at UArizona. Mandi has a bachelors degree in Near Eastern Studies and is currently studying addiction psychology, showing no matter how varied your interest or educational background, you can always use it in IT. 

Today's Guest is Paul Reeves. Paul is a Cloud Consulting Solutions Engineer at Splunk, supporting communications, technology, media, and gaming customers He focuses on helping customers get the most value from Splunk Cloud Platform and major cloud services providers like AWS, Azure, and GCP.  Prior to working at Splunk, Paul worked at the University of Arizona for 12 years, most recently leading the Security Engineering team in the Information Security Office.  He also holds three technology-related degrees from the University.

Today's guest is Mark Fischer, Mark is an application architect at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Mark has over two decades of experience in the technology space, starting with a foundation in early web applications, through the Web 2.0 craze, and on to today's API and microservices driven architectures. Along the way he's been bringing automation, creativity, and education to the infrastructure side of things. He has been leading the University's central Identity Architecture team since 2019. He is also a part-time instructor in the University's Computer Science department, teaching Web Programming and Cloud Computing to the next generation.
