As a podcaster, I am always looking for a new way to do podcast and not be tied to my office. I also want to take my podcast into the world of video by doing video podcast and I am always looking for products that will help expand my podcasting. 

I started doing research into mobile video records and I came across the Zoom Q2n-4K (the bigger brother to the Zoom Q2n). I made the trip to Guitar Center and made the purchase of the Zoom Q2n-4K but I was not impressed once I got it home. The product has great sound but the video was not what I was expecting.

This podcast is my review of the product and the short comings that I found.

Preparing for a remote podcast in Memphis Tennessee, I have purchased a couple of portable recording devices. One I reviewed last week and that was the Tascam DR-40 but the DR-40 only does audio. If I want to live stream remotely, I needed better sound quality for videos that I will be streaming from my iPhone. After doing some research on possible solutions, I settled on the Shure MV88+ Video Kit. This podcast is my review of this great product for podcasters.

Now that I have a few podcast episodes under my belt, I have put in some time to think about not being tied to my office to record a podcast. I know I am going to want to have guest on my shows that can’t come to me to record. This got me thinking about a compact and mobile way to bring recording to my guest. I started looking into digital handheld records and used some resources in podcast groups that I am a member of to determine the best digital record. I was told about the Zoom H5 and it came highly recommend but a $300 (USD) price tag comes with this. I stopped in at my local Guitar Center to talk to sound professionals and I walked out of Guitar Center with the Tascam DR-40 for under $200 (USD). This podcast is my review (and the show was recorded using the Tascam DR-40) of this Tascam product.

Over the past weekend, I decided I needed to buy a new computer that had the ability to do live streams at 4K quality. The computer I bought a couple of weeks ago was great from processing power but lacked the graphics card that I needed to be able to stream. When I tried to stream on the two week old computer, I had audio and video synch issues that I needed to fix. This lead me to purchase a new gaming desktop and I landed on the Ibuypower BB952 computer at best buy.

The Past weekend my desktop computer that I use for recording all my podcast episodes started restarting randomly, not waking up and just not working like it should. I made the decision that I needed a new computer and made a trip to Best Buy to purchase one. I settled on the Dell Inspiron 3670 desktop with the 8th generation intel i7 processor, 12Gb of Ram and 1TB hard drive. This podcast is about me spending my weekend trying to get my new computer working like a new computer.

After I upgraded my internet service from 100Mbs to 400Mbs, I needed to upgrade my network to take advantage of the new speeds. I made a trip to best buy and purchased the Amplifi mesh network but had to return it. I settled on the Netgear Orbi AC2200 system and this podcast tells you why I picked the Orbi.
