  • Motorola One Zoom offers high end camera at mid range price

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.    The Motorola One Zoom has arrived with the Lenovo owned phone maker bidding to take on Apple, Samsung, Google and OnePlus for camera phone supremacy.  So what’s special here?  Motorola’s Derek Wimmer…

“So this is a four camera system.  It has a dedicated main sensor which is a 48 megapixel.  It also has a telephoto lens which is going to enable you to zoom in a lot further than with a normal sensor.  It has a dedicated ultra wide which is going to allow you to take those wide angle shots and then it has a depth sensor as well.  In addition to those it has a 25 megapixel selfy camera.”

And despite those high end specs…the Motorola One Zoom carries an unlocked price of 450 dollars….less than half that of much of the competition.  It features 128 gigabytes of storage…and a MicroSD slot for even more.

  • Lego brings more AR and creativity to building sets

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  It is a company that is more than 87 years old….but the Lego brand continues to embrace new technology.  The new Lego Hidden Side kits include augmented reality.  The company’s Kelly Nuckols says that capability uses an app on a mobile device..

“So what happens is you scan the set…it has to be built exactly how the instructions say…and it will scan the set and create this whole world around it.  So you scan the bus and all of a sudden there will be trees and a road and everything going on there.  And then it will direct you to do certain movements, so it will ask you to twist this or place the mini figure there and those will trigger the next event on the app.”

AR can add to the fun.  You can find a variety of Lego Hidden Side kits starting as low as thirty dollars..  Check out www.Lego.com for more.

  • Ease offers digital solutions making benefit selections simpler

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  Navigating the maze of insurance and benefit options during open enrollment periods can be daunting.  A company called Ease aims to make things easier for insurers, employers and employees by bringing the options into the digital age.  CEO David Reid…

“Sone of the things we face is a lot of choices. And when you have a lot of choices it is much easier to present the right option to an employee in an online environment cause we have basic information about them.  If they have a high deductible  plan and kids, we can present to them the right types of options that meet their needs rather than giving everybody an encyclopedia to go home and read.”

Even if a business has as few as two employees…it may be worthwhile to check it out at www.ease.com.
