Techstination

Techstination Week is a compilation of this week's Techstination reports with tech journalist and host Fred Fishkin

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  The well known Hamilton Beach kitchen appliance brand…with a more than one hundred year old history…is bringing connectivity into its line up. The company’s test kitchen manager…Pat Schweitzer…tell us…first up is a connected coffee maker…

“How it works is you set your coffee up so you can get the app to prepare it whenever you want.  So no more trying to make your coffee when you wake up in the morning.  You can just have it ready to go and through your app tell it to start.  I would set my coffee maker to go, push the button for the app and then I can just use my Alexa Echo to say, Alexa, start coffee maker.”

And you can check in to learn when the brew is ready too.  Look for the Hamilton Beach connected coffee maker this fall.

“It’s a portable device capable of running on batteries and you can connect all kinds of devices, your WiFi devices…your cell phones, laptops… on the go and you can experience great 5G speeds…a whole lot of applications from Web browsing, downloading movies.”

“You know people pictures make a place come alive.  And when I’m writing my bio I tell people my specialty is not specializing because I do like to do it all.  But when it comes down to it I really do love photographing people.  And you’re going to find some great fishermen also along the coast there.”

And Rick’s wife Susan happily shares how to get more amazing shots…with an iPhone.

“It is the one gift card…when you give people gift cards, they don’t generally pass them around at parties.  But if it has a picture on it, they do and people keep them even after the gift card is redeemed.  So tons of fun.”

Beyond that…the site has been growing its line up of gift cards…to include Happy Cards good at a variety of shopping or dining locations.  And for those last minute needs…GiftCards.com has instant e-gift cards as well.
