In December of 2020, I had a conversation with Themba ( Dreds) Mbuli about His journey in the Arts, and how He found Himself working and living in the art space. In January 2021 Themba left the physical world and I didn't know what to do with the audio on the laptop. I didn't want to seem insensitive by just putting it online. So I decided to leave it, last year 2021 the Unmute dance company decided to pay homage to Themba and many others from their team who have left the physical world during the annual ArtsAbility festival. So I thought its time I give thanks to Themba as well. But I was not able to press the publish button.
Fast forward to 2022 I think I'm ready. to let go of this audio.
So thank you Baba for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. You may have left us physically but your teaching and spirit will live on in your work, your kids, and the lessons you left with all of us whose lives you touched.
So with this, I would like to say Thank you baba, may your soul live on, and may your work always inspire us all.
I have been away from this special space that I created for us. I found myself in a dark place full of self-doubt, a leak of belief in self. Found me overthinking this space and questioning myself how dare I think I can do this, how dare I think people would even be interested.
But here I'm back putting it all out there and leaving it, remembering why I started, It was actually to elevate Art to the level I think it should, to have conversations with some of my most talented friends who are creating amazing things. Most importantly to give back to dance all that She has given to me. This is only but a little offering to you dance.
On my journey in the arts....
How got to this point. Taking you from when I was bitten by this dancing bug and how that ride has been.
Touching on the impact of Art in the society we live in. and how given the chance Art can change the world.
