I want to trust others but I also want to be realistic and protect my own heart. A lot of teenagers probably struggle with this issue to some extent. It would be great if every interaction went as planned and everyone was exactly who they say they are but that's not always real life. Sometimes to prevent myself from breaking down and losing myself, I approach new people very cautiously. The problems arise when I end up missing out on beautiful relationships and friendships because of my closed-off attitude.
