Legendary Cleveland sportswriter and Media personality Danny Coughlin died over the weekend at the age of 86. I have been his colleague for 44 years. And still as recent as last Friday night was on the set with him on our popular high school football show , Friday Night Touchdown. This episode will also contain a podcast episode we had in 2019 and he talks about how the JFK assassination altered his career path. Also Browns legend Doug Dieken sat down with me on Sunday for a few stories about Dan Coughlin. Thanks for listening !
The Miracle League of Lake County , Ohio for individuals, from children to adults that deal with developmental disabilities, physical limitations, down syndrome, autism, and other situations. Enjoy the chance to play baseball each summer on an adaptive ballfield next to Captains ballpark in Eastlake, Ohio. The program is reliant on buddies and coaches and many volunteers and sponsors, but there’s a reason each week players can say they’ve been on the happiest acre in Lake County. I visited on the final Saturday of the season. Thank you to commissioner Mike Piper and everyone for their hospitality.
Our Team is a fascinating book written by Luke Epplin that chronicles the World Series that changed baseball, and sports in general. It was 1948, won by the Cleveland Indians. Luke profiles owner Bill Veeck, pitcher Bob Feller, outfielder Larry Doby who was the first black man to play in the American League, and Satchel Paige, who was the first black to pitch in a World Series and already had mythical and legendary status. This is the 100th episode of Season 2.

Mark Price was one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. When he retired from the game, he had the highest percentage of free throw shooting in league history. He was a four-time NBA All-Star for the Cleveland Cavaliers out of Georgia Tech. In the 1988-89 season, Price achieved the 50 /40
/90 distinction. 50% shooting from the field, 40% from three-point line, and 90% from the free-throw line ……….. at the time he was only the second person to ever accomplish that behind Larry Bird. Also adding to his resume, Price was a two time NBA 3 point shooting champ. Price was one of the stars on the Cavalier teams coached by Lenny Wilkens in the late 80s and early 90s. They were one of the more dominant Eastern conference teams, but usually ran up against either the Bulls or the Pistons. In light of Steph Currys Olympic barrage of crucial 3 pointers, I directed most of my questioning about shooting; What is the mentality of a shooter?
