MacKenzie Blackwood has arrived in Colorado. Blackwood backstopped a sick Avs team to a victory over Nashville, stopping the first 37 shots he faced and allowing the Avs superstars to take over for a 5-2 victory. Will the Woodshed goaltending duo allow us to finally to see the Avs team we've been waiting all season for? MacKinnon and Rantanen are 1 and 2 in the league in points, can MacKinnon win the Art Ross, and what does this mean for Rantanen's contract situation. The Avs finally make their move for a goalie, trading for MacKenzie Blackwood from San Jose while sending Georgiev and Kovalenko back the other way. Can this new tandem of Blackwood and Wedgewood help this team start rattling off wins? How much does it hurt to give up Kovalenko? On the game side, the Avs put up a perfect road game on the second half of a back to back against New Jersey for their best game of the year, and are suddenly looking like a far more complete team with a chance to finish the trip strong in Pittsburgh. Ross Colton's return to the lineup appears to have jumpstarted the Avs, is he going to stay on the wing from now on?

We've got a lot to catch up on, so let's get started. The Avalanche completed a 4-0 comeback against the Buffalo Sabres, which began with Georgiev giving up 4 goals on 8 shots again. However newly acquired backup Scott Wedgewood came into relief and galvanized the Avs to victory, washing out the taste of two disappointing performances againt Dallas and Edmonton. It's at a critical point with Georgiev, and after moving Justus Annunen for Wedgewood, the same might need to be done with Georgiev now.

The goaltending conversation is exhausting but reaching a critical point following an 8-2 meltdown vs. Tampa Bay, marring what was ultimately a successful road trip by winning three of four as the Avs reach the quarter mark of the season above .500. At long last, the Avalanche have gotten reinforcements in the lineup. Val Nichushkin, Jonathan Drouin, and Miles Wood all returned to the lineup against the Capitals, but it wasn't enough to overcome this revamped Caps team in a slog fest of a game. How will they fare in the rematch? Was the victory over the Flyers a sign of things to come with 50 minutes of domination?
