At long last, the Avalanche have gotten reinforcements in the lineup. Val Nichushkin, Jonathan Drouin, and Miles Wood all returned to the lineup against the Capitals, but it wasn't enough to overcome this revamped Caps team in a slog fest of a game. How will they fare in the rematch? Was the victory over the Flyers a sign of things to come with 50 minutes of domination? Also, looking around the league at Jim Montgomery's hasty firing in Boston and Connor McDavid hitting 1,000 points.

The Avalanche are starting to get things to go their way with two straight wins over the Hurricanes and Predators, with major reinforcements on the way within a week. Not to mention, they are still in a playoff spot even after evertyhing they endured. Is the worst part of the season about to be put in the rear view mirror? Georgiev has put together a few good games in a row, has the Avs goaltending stabilized for the time being? Has Nathan MacKinnon somehow gotten better than last year? Also, answering your mailbag questions.
It's been the same story over the last several games, where a depleted Avalanche team puts out a strong performance and gets goalie'd out of a better fate. Some good news though, Artturi Lehkonen is back in the lineup with an immediate impact with Nichushkin and Drouin seemingly not far behind, and Georgiev just put up the best goaltending performance of the season to this point vs. Winnipeg. Their luck is due to turn any day now. Eventually.
The Avalanche are overloaded with injuries and struggling to put wins together, and two loses in a row to Tampa Bay and Nashville have left everyone frustrated with the unrelenting injury curse. Nikita Prischepov made his surprise debut, and looked like he could be a commodity in the future after a strong debut. Lehkonen looks ready to come back against Seattle on Tuesday, finally giving the Avs some needed reinforcements. Finally, answering your mailbag questions.

The Avalanche have reached the first ten game checkpoint of the season at 5-5-0, an even .500. Not bad after starting the season 0-4, but still plenty of room for improvement, even with the ever growing list of injuries that they cannot escape. How much bad luck can one team have with injuries over three seasons? What have the brightest sports been so far? Where can they improve the most with important games coming up? Is Georgiev running out of chances? Finally, what have the biggest surprises of the season been?

Just like that, the Avalanche are back to .500 after a four game win streak and sweeping the three game road trip with Seattle and Utah in their first ever visit to Delta Center. It's not much of a coincidence that since starting Justus Annunen in goal, the Avs have looked significantly better, playing with more confidence and giving up significantly less goals. Is he the starter now? Of course nothing can stay good, as Ross Colton could be added to the injured list now, but Kovalenko and Ivan Ivan continue to impress. Cal Ritchie was sent back to the OHL a bit early, but that's not a bad thing. Finally, answering your mailbag questions?

The Avalanche have won not one, but two hockey games in a row with wins over the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks and officially on the board for the season. With the monkey off their back, can this turn into positive momentum as they wait for reinforcements to arrive? Justus Annunen played very well against San Jose, is the clock ticking on Georgiev's job with Kahkonen in town as well? Does Ross Colton stay on the wing after his hot start to the season to the top line? Finally, answering your mailbag questions at last!

The Avalanche are 0-4 to start the season, and that's not good to put it mildly. But the world is not ending yet, there are several reasons to view this as a simple losing streak and nothing more. This Avs team is missing five very key players as now Drouin and Toews are missing time, and the top six for the Avs is almost entirely depleted. MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Makar are all towards the top of the league in scoring, and the Avs have a winnable schedule coming up. However, several things need to be fixed with the product on the ice before you can wave off these results. Goaltending needs to be better, and the defensive process needs to be cleaned up.

The Avalanche's 2024-25 season is underway, but a 8-4 setback to the Golden Knights in the season opener has them asking questions about their goaltending after 7 goals against on just 20 shots for both Georgiev and Annunen. How tight is the leash for Georgiev from here on, and can he bounce back similar to in the playoffs? Mikko Rantanen still doesn't have a contract as the season starts and just opened the year with a hat trick. Is that any reason to be concerned? What positives can be drawn from the season opener ahead of the home opener against Columbus?

The Avalanche's roster is finalized ahead of the regular season opener, with some major salary cap shenanigans already taking place. Ivan-Ivan and Kovalenko have seemingly been sent down and not on the roster, but it's actually a smoke screen purely for salary cap reasons, so no reason to panic. They will play. With Lehkonen seemingly not coming back before the end of October, the new kids will have to hold their own in these roles for longer than expected. Also, finishing our season predictions with the Pacific and Central division, and our Stanley Cup predictions for the year!
