The opioid epidemic touches the lives of millions on a daily basis, so what can we as a society do to break the stigma, help our loved ones, and educate one another on such a prominent and impactful crisis? We are joined by Mindy Miller, Community Fairbanks Recovery Center’s Outpatient Manager, as she shares her expertise, insight, and advice. Plus, we hear the final advice from Kelly as he continues his long-term recovery journey.

From moving away from Terre Haute, Indiana to committing to long-term recovery, Kelly has made strides toward long-term recovery. The road to recovery is not linear. For many of those who struggle with substance misuse, it takes multiple attempts at rehabilitation before recovery becomes possible. In this episode, Kelly speaks on Sober Living, what made this attempt at recovery different, and what progress looks like. We even hear from his mentor, Brent Shopp, who has battled his own substance misuse.

Then, we’ll hear about incarceration from a professional lens with Joe Pilotte, a probation officer with the Vigo County Superior Court Adult Probation Department in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He shares the reality of how drug misuse impacted those he loved most — from bonds he had with his parents, to those with his kids, and his best friends. We’ll even hear from Kelly’s closest friend, Tony, as he shares his perception of his friendship with Kelly.
