Working Group Status Updates

Arbitration - Arbitration working group making progress bringing in additional legal professionals.

Bounty System - Today we will onboard everyone onto the slicing pie app. Establishing chairs and working groups are being implemented manually into the system. Chairs can invite other members via email. Chairs can approve or deny contributions. Anyone can add a work rate, but you can’t edit work rates yet. Any questions, concerns, feedback - hit up Rob from EOS Detroit.

Community Rewards Pool - Reward pool set to go live. Anybody can participate and benefit. Graphics to promote will be released this week.

Dapps Outreach - Good interaction with CEO Claudio of unico.global (trading digital collectibles).

External comms - Share your weekly wins within working groups.

Governance - Worker proposal & Ratify/Amend reviewed. Regproducer first review finished. TNOA first rewrite done by the end of the week.

Meetings - Proposal to reschedule weekly Telos Contributors call 1 hour later.

Network Maintenance - Auto rotation is working. Testing the weighted voting. Faucet is working. New account creation has a minor bug we are working on.

Marketing & Social Media - We launched our Telos hashtag campaign.

Other Updates:

New proposal about TF and TFVT’s.

New proposal about lost/compromised keys. We have a key recovery working group. Ombudsmen joining key replacement effort.

Going to hit 1M blocks today

Unvoting 15% deactivates network. While devs fix, proposing to extend vote testing and auto rotation till Sept 7 before starting to manually rotate BPs again.

Security / GRC Update:

Telos Block Producer Infrastructure Requirements Document is out. Potential BP’s will have to meet security conditions including verified identification (verified arbitrator identification too). Feedback/criticism is welcome. We’d like to hand this over to external communications for publishing soon (plan to review the next 24 hours before posting).

Other Updates:

Amplify Telos has jumped in to help us on the development side.

Governance documents are out for public consideration and making progress fine tuning them.

Update: We found a solution for E-mail id and groups. Just need to get it work.

Update: Working on a collaborative inbox, very close to being set up.

The attorneys are being onboarded for arbitration on Telos.

Azad: Should BP/arbitrator minimum requirements be rephrased? Discuss further offline on Slack or another call. We would like to have a list of BP’s represented in the call. Next call Thursday evening.

Network Maintenance:

Update: 3 million blocks on testnet milestone reached.

One BP per team on testnet.

Getting developers to start stress testing network.

Restarting network with Stage 2. Testing new code in current testnet before reset. Voting will be off until testnet reset.

Stage 2 would enable us to start inviting dapps to test on testnet.

Development:

Update: We are on the final stage of testing rotating BP’s, couple more days to finish. Updates on github.

Bounty System: Evaluate, track, and publish reports on ongoing Telos Reward Pools shares.

Update: Rob Konsdorf (EOS Detroit) created cards in Trello of what work still needs to be done. Needs to update the TIP still. Rob is actively working on the web app every day. Web app should be deployed before next week’s contributors call.

Community Rewards Pool: Working to establish, manage and deliver the TCRP

Update: Update from Telos Africa: People would be rewarded for content they provide on social media.

Exchange Outreach: Works with cryptocurrency exchanges, particularly those that listed EOS at the snapshot, in order to onboard TLOS for listing and distribution to EOS owners. This also includes online wallets, investment groups or any similar group holding the EOS tokens of multiple individual owners combined in a small number of addresses.

Update: Exchanges have shown positive interest in listing TLOS tokens.

TIP 1B - Method B has had more support.

Method A - Platform based approach

Pros- Simpler to manage, Predictable

Cons- Easily gamed, Limited reach, Does encourage incremental work

Method B - Content based approach

Pros- Diversity, Not easily gamed, Fair ,Rewards incremental work, more creativity

Cons- More complex, more supervision is needed

We should let the community itself vote on the benefits of these efforts and their impact.

TIP 3: Unanimous Yes vote for full transparency. Josep from EOS Barcelona had some concerns.

Takeaways

Launch date - August is probably too ambitious. We should announce a date that seems realistic. Monday, September 24th will be the first Go/NoGo vote on launching the Telos network.

We need a larger dev team.

More discussion is needed for distribution of community rewards.

We have been sorting out productivity tools.

All working groups have consolidated with Chairs

The TLOS community has grown with technical, organization, and outreach.

Michael Gucci Z-Meta and EOS AirdropsDAC endorse TLOS:

They are a group on EOS that provides airdrops as a service (legal and everything else). Third largest RAM holders.

Working Group Status Updates

Development Update: claimproducer can prevent BP pay manipulation. Working on rotating producers - early stages.

Code Generation/Testing has been merged into a single Development working group. First official meeting will be 08/01/18.

Dapps Outreach Update: We have a list of tools to make (block explorers, wallets, etc), now focusing on dapps.

TIP 1A Telos Launch Group Tracking/Distribution

We Voted unanimously in support of Method A - Should Method A (TIP-0002) or Method B be used to calculate the Telos Founders Rewards Pool split?:

Method A: (Presented by Rob - EOS Detroit)

Rob helped us standardize on the TIP system on Github by forking Bitshares proposals code. Still a lot of work to be done.

We want to create an open bounty system that is transparent with fair governance in the working groups.

We want to create incentive structures to attract talent or increase promotion.

Wider distribution on the 6 million token rewards.

We would bring in a professional consultant to decide fair market value rates.

Rob can build an MVP to post real time contribution tracking onto the EOS blockchain.

Integrate time tracking to Trello (or trackify).

Cash contributions must be approved by working group Chairs.

Some commission based tasks will warrant fixed bounty amounts.

Method B: Would still require time tracking.

James Davis: We want an ongoing conversation of fair market value rates.

TIP 1B - We Voted unanimously Yes TIP 1B - 1 million TLOS tokens instead of 600K

How do we breakdown the subpools?

This will be a net new pool, not come out of founders rewards pool.

More rewards is better. 1M instead of 600K.

If there are leftover unclaimed bounties after launch, just burn them.

Set up new additional working group for the community rewards bounty pool.

The vote on TIP 1B included the provision that there was a possibility of burning or donating community rewards tokens based on the ultimate distribution method and participation levels.

TIP 3 Telos Foundation Voting:

Position: Block producers should be able to vote privately to avoid reputation ramifications and political backlash from voting. Sometimes what is right isn’t always popular. We will remain transparent with WHO is voting and the end RESULTS of voting. It would not be prohibited to disclose voting selections. Giving people the option to disclose is the ultimate balance.

Duration of Telos Working Groups (by Rob Konsdorf - EOS Detroit)

Philosophical question: What is the duration of the Telos launch working groups coordination?

Rob: I think we should dissolve the launch working groups post Telos network activation. New working groups can form, fill a purpose, and then be dissolved as a best practice. Perhaps as a result of a worker proposal passing? Github can be used as a public forum to evolve the

Telos is a new blockchain network based on EOSIO, the same software that powers EOS. Like EOS, Telos will require 15% of token holders to vote for block producers in order to activate the network. This gives the Telos network the same legitimacy as EOS.

Some people are concerned that Telos may not be able to reach 15% to activate because there are no giant wallets to help. The video shows why this is not a concern and that the activation is very achievable on Telos.
