Temple Restoration Project

It’s time to address the battle that is before us. Those who are hostile to God desire to take us captive as prisoners of war. The issue we face is that we may have already been taken captive and our unaware. This episode explores our risk of falling into captivity by looking at Colossians 2:6-10. When we accept Christ, we receive Him by faith, but it doesn’t stop there. We must continue living according to Christ, by faith, as we do this, we grow up in Christ. He becomes the perfector of our faith, and His life in us is the only path to maturity. Those who oppose God oppose us, and they do not want us to mature and become who we were created to be. There mission is to place us back in captivity and keep us from living by faith. Join us as we learn from the Lord how to be soldiers for Christ, willing to stand in our weakness and fight the good fight of faith.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Carmen Imes to the show this week. Dr. Imes is an associate professor of Old Testament at Biola University. She is well known for her love of the Bible and her desire to understand it well, and help others understand it well. We begin this episode by introducing Dr. Imes to the message of the Temple Restoration Project and the idea of living by faith over fitness. From there, she expands our understanding of what it means to be the image of God and the idea of bearing God’s name. She emphasizes why the Old Testament matters in understanding our identity and mission as God’s people. Our discussion focuses on how these ideas are essential to living by faith in who Christ is rather than attempting to increase faith in who we are. Carmen also introduces us to her new book, Becoming God’s Family: Why the Church Still Matters. Our conversation with Carmen is filled with great insight as she sheds new light on what it means to live by faith.

Carmen's new book, Becoming God's Family: Why the Church Still Matters, comes out October 28th. You can preorder anywhere you buy books or click the link below.

Jenny has spent the last 4 weeks learning to wait on the Lord. In this episode, Amanda and Jenny discuss the lessons the Lord taught during this time. They centered around further understanding what it means to be weak, perceiving the Lord’s presence, and being ready to move when the Lord moves. Every lesson brings deeper understanding to the realization of how willing the Lord is to carry His children to victory. Join us as we explore what it means to wait on the Lord, a fundamental concept of living by faith.

We have reached a pivotal point in the podcast; the Lord is up to something, as He always is. In past episodes, Jenny shared the stories of the races that she ran with the Lord. Their purpose has always been to reveal God’s bigger plans for His children and teach what it means to be strong in Him, but one race has yet to be talked about. In this episode, we discuss the last race and its relationship to the future of The Temple Restoration Project. God is using this story to reveal His plans for His children as we seek His strength and not our own. We are so thankful for God’s willingness to direct our steps, and we look forward to what He has waiting for us.

Through the years, Jenny has struggled with an overwhelming feeling of despair when faced with the task of conveying the message of The Temple Restoration Project and 610Fit. When these thoughts present themselves, feelings of heaviness and hopelessness come over her. It has always felt like a battlefield, a place the enemy shows up to slow down the momentum of the project, that was, until the Lord revealed the truth of what was going on. What the Lord revealed shows us what it can look like to participate with Him in tasks that are insurmountable in our strength. In this episode, Jenny shares her story, which leads us into a discussion of why our weakness does not have to bring about hopelessness but can instead reveal the strength of the one who stands before us.

In the previous episode, Jenny shared her powerful story of how God freed her from anxiety. In this episode, Amanda opens up about her own journey, which began in first grade and persisted into her adult life. Through faith, Amanda found healing as the Lord restored her heart and granted her peace. Her testimony reminds us that while God's presence may not always be apparent in life's storms, hindsight reveals His unwavering guidance and care."

Jenny is joined by her long-time friend Leighton Cromwell to discuss the ins and outs of dealing with anxiety. In this episode, Jenny shares her story of how the Lord delivered her from the grip of fear and restored her heart to peace. Often the uncertainty of life leaves us feeling alone and scared, but God has shown His love for us, that by sending His son Jesus Christ, we should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). If you struggle with anxiety, we hope that this episode will remind you of the love God has for you and how His presence can empower you to live in peace.

To be in God's presence is to be filled with joy (Psalm 16:11). In light of this truth, why do so many of us experience a lack of joy? We know Yahweh is with us, so what is it that keeps us from receiving it? In this episode we explore what could hinder us from receiving the joy that is so readily available to us. Our discussion leads to the realization that our attempts to live in our strength has hidden the joy that has been placed in our hearts through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Join us as we seek the Lord to restore us to the joy of our salvation.

After reflecting on Sylvia’s 610Fit journey and the joy she experienced in her suffering, the Lord led us to explore the topic of joy. I realized being joyful is somewhat unfamiliar to me, and you may find it is with you as well. Happiness, anxiety, and sadness can often hide from our eyes the joy the Lord has gifted us with. Even so, we are meant to experience joy and without it, we cannot accurately demonstrate who God is to the world. This episode explores all the different aspects of joy, with the hope the Lord will use it to restore us to the joy of our salvation.

God’s timing is always perfect, and now is the time for Sylvia Vera to share her story of becoming strong in the Lord. Sylvia’s story begins as the burdens of life from childhood to adulthood had her feeling left behind and lost. In her brokenness, she asked the Lord to catch her up physically and spiritually. The Lord responds to her prayer and faithfully begins the process of bringing beauty from the ashes. Sylvia's heart for the Lord reminds us that when the struggles of life resemble a downpour, instead of drowning we can find joy in the Lord and maybe we can even sing in the rain.
