Ten Cent Takes

This week, we're looking at Dragon Strike! The Marvel book serves as a prequel to TSR's fantasy board game. Even though the game itself seems interesting and cool, the comic isn't exactly a natural 20 when it comes to charming readers. 

It's Spooky Season! That means it's time to dig up some spectral comics for today's Dollar Bin Discovery Theme: Ghosts. 

Jessika summoned The Spectre #1 and to check out how DC rebooted the character in the 80s. Mike, meanwhile, read Ghost #5 from Dark Horse, which contains a surprising cameo. 

It's time for Round Two of Street Fighter!

This week, we're checking out Street Fighter: The Battle for Shadaloo. Based on the infamous 1994 movie, is this comic any better than the miniseries from Malibu?

Spoiler: It is. But that's a low bar to clear. 

This week’s Dollar Bin Discovery theme is “Fighting Forces,” so we’re squaring up with some rock ‘em sock ‘em comics. Mike investigated the mystery of Adrenalynn: Weapon of War #1, while Jessika learned ninja secrets with TMNT #132.

Just in time for Spooky Season, we're checking out The Legion of Night this week! A two-issue miniseries from Early 90s Marvel with incredible art, this comic teams up several deep-cut characters for a horror adventure story that doesn't always work.

Just in time for Back to School Season™, this week's theme is "Kids." Jessika read Thud #1, where an artist's life blurs together with a comic character he created as a kid. Mike, meanwhile, read Action Comics #466, in which Lex Luthor founds the Baby-Sitters Club. 

This week we're looking at Robotix, Marvel's adaptation of a 1980s Hasbro property that desperately wanted to be the next Transformers. The comic is better than the cartoon, but it is missing the rad theme song. 

This week’s Dollar Bin Discovery is Futuriffic, with two very different visions of what the future looked like from the 1980s. Mike checked out Captain Power & the Soldiers of the Future #1, while Jessika explored Alien Worlds #1. Put on your shades, the future looks bright. 

Put on your smartypants and warm up your pipes, we're going to the opera and checking out Ariane & Bluebeard! A comic adaptation by of a French opera, readers are in for a visual feast thanks to P. Craig Russell's incredible art. 

It's time to brush up on your foreign accents, because this week's DBD theme is "International Delights."

Mike got into some very polite superhero action with Alpha Flight 130, while Jessika broke out her language mastery and read the French comic  Les Sauveurs d'Esprits.
