TEN-XT: A WWE NXT History Podcast

A main event of Takeover rematch of The Ascension vs The Lucha Dragons, is about the only sliver of light in an otherwise dark episode of NXT. Confused booking runs us in circles, Alexa Bliss and Bayley have some fun. And two title matches are made for next week. At least we got to see Regal being silly backstage.

Welcome to TEN-XT, an officially unofficial WWE:NXT history podcast. Three lifelong friends discuss the episode of NXT that came out ten years ago today. And along the way, the wider world of the time - Including sports, news and of course... wrestling.

We are not affiliated with WWE in any way, nor are we pro wrestlers. But we are fans of NXT, that IS true. Just British lads talking wrestling, it's a stereotype at this point, so you know the drill.

Titus O'Neil threatens our post-Takeover glow, but only one of us is deluminated. Hideo Itami makes his official in-ring debut, so we shine a little spotlight on his career pre-NXT. Charlotte looks strong and Baron Corbin gets an entrance. Also, aliens!

We're finally here, one of our most cherished NXT memories, THE Fatal 4 Way. But was it as excellent as we remembered? Charlotte continues to step-up in a title defense against the ever-popular Bayley. Also, The Lucha Dragons get their shot at The Ascension.

KENTA makes his first official WWE appearance. Baron Corbin makes his "NXT debut", despite the fact we've seen this man 8+ times. BullJo settle their rivalry. And we get absolutely robbed in Enzo's hair vs hair match.

Is this the best Fatal 4 Way match ever? Email your thoughts about NXT in 2014 to [email protected]!

It's time for our Go-Home show for our third (second, technically) Takeover - Takeover: Fatal Foursome. Triple H offers us the most boring booking imaginable, four singles matches and four promos to go with the upcoming fourway. Charlotte also warms up against Alexa Bliss, ahead of her match with Bayley. And the tag-title tournament finals take place, but the winners don't really connect with the crowd.

Plus, we finally say goodbye to Adam Rose/Leo Kruger as he officially graduates from NXT.

William Regal is named General Manager of NXT, and long may he reign. In this very special episode of TEN-XT, the lads recorded together in the same room for the first time in over two years! Matt visited the UK for the first time since 2019, and what better way to spend a vacation than a bit of in-person podcasting (work)

Also in this episode, the main event of Takeover is announced and we get a classic TV main event as a result. Bayley and Sasha wrestle once more, The Ascension squash more jobbers, and Bull Dempsey says Mojo Rawley is "all hype". I mean, when Bull is dropping bars on you...

Triple H delivers our Takeover quarterly dividend, as we're promised something special will happen on September 11th. The tag-team tournament semi finals take place. Enzo Amore gets his beard shaved. And the other half of the Four Horsewomen face off in JoJo inflection Dee-Vas action.

Buddy Murphy makes his NXT debut, where does he get all that rizz? The tag team tournament continues, with the Luchas cramming a lot into two minutes. Bayley and Sasha have their sixth singles match on NXT TV, but developing their chemistry is paying off. And Tyler Breeze FINALLY faces Adrian Neville for the NXT Championship in a classic main event.

Eva Marie makes her NXT debut, but she barely knows how to walk, so let's see how she wrestles. The #1 contenders tag-team tournament gets underway with a pair of first round matches. And Xavier Woods vs CJ Parker unexpectidly goes hard.

Just when we thought we couldn't get any lower... Back in 2014, WWE writes praise about Vladamir Putin. For heels who aren't even Russian. This was a post-Crimea, post-Donbas. Given how the McMahon family donates politically, it's hardly surprising, but it's still shocking to watch during a week of intense violence in Ukraine.

Charlotte and Summer Rae are put in the difficult position of blowing off a heel vs heel feud with minimal experience. Mojo Rawley continues to be pushed as a top guy, whilst also getting squashed. And the tag-division stops this from being completely unwatchable.
