In Episode 5, I interviewed my husband! Brian and I recently celebrated 6 years of marriage and to help celebrate, I asked him about what it’s like to be married to an artistic creative and how in the world he puts up with me…and I didn’t edit a single thing out!
PS: You will hear children and lawn equipment in the background. Our air conditioning is broken at the moment so we had to record this with the windows open! #reallife :)

In Episode 4 I’m interviewing one of my favorite artists. K.C. Christmas Beach is a studio artist based in Aiken, South Carolina. K.C. holds bachelors degrees in Studio art (2015) and History from Bob Jones University. She is currently a part time studio artist while pursuing a Masters of Art History from Lindenwood University. Episode 3 is centered around the theme of good stewardship and using our money wisely in life and in business. The Bible has a lot to say about stewardship and money. The parable of the talents is one of the first passages that comes to mind but many other verses and passages in both testaments give us an excellent framework of principles on which to base our spending, saving, and giving practices! That said, finances are a huge area of personal struggle for me, especially where spending is concerned! Because of that, I am not the best person to be talking about these things and that is why I was so excited to be able to interview Colin and Wendy Hornback. Colin and Wendy Hornback are the owners of Six Arrow Photography, bold followers of Christ, and avid Dave Ramsey devotees.
In this episode we discussed:

A huge part of this podcast is going to be chatting with people much wiser than I am, and to start things off I had the great privilege of interviewing Jon Scruggs. Jon is a Senior Counsel for and Director of the Center for Conscience Initiatives at Alliance Defending Freedom. Alliance Defending Freedom is a Christian nonprofit organization whose goal is advocating, training, and funding on the issues of "religious freedom, sanctity of life, and marriage and family." They are also the organization responsible for representing me (see Episode 1) and Jon just so happens to have been my attorney.
In this episode Jon and I discuss the role of his organization, what it means for creatives, the impact that we as artists have on our culture, and what it means for creatives to live and work according to their faith.

In this first episode I share how God worked in my life and changed my path in ways I never could have imagined, resulting in a new perspective of how my faith affects my business! I discussed my background, shared my personal salvation testimony, and how God used a legal process called a pre-enforcement challenge to ensure that I could continue to live and work according to my faith. You can read more about the case here: https://www.adflegal.org/detailspages/case-details/amy-lynn-photography-studio-v.-city-of-madison
Note: There are no honorary sponsor ads or affiliate links in this episode due to deadlines and besides, this first episode is plenty long already ;). That said, Alliance Defending Freedom is a fantastic organization to support!

Podcast Statement of Faith (not mentioned in the episode but just so you know where I'm coming from!) :
One God
There is one omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent God, composed of a trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 4:4–6
Deity of Christ
As an equal member of the Trinity, Jesus Christ the son of God was born of a virgin and came to earth fully man and fully God, allowing him to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins when he died and rose again from the dead after three days.
Colossians 1:15–22
[15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. [16] For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. [17] And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. [18] And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. [19] For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, [20] and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. [21] And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, [22] he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, (ESV)
Philippians 2:5–11
[5] Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, [6] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, [7] but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. [9] Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, [10] so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (ESV)
I Corinthians 15:3-4
The Bible
The Bible is the written and complete word of the one true God, who divinely inspired men to write the words. The Bible is inerrant and without contradiction.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training inrighteousness, that ethe man of God2 may be complete, fequipped gfor every goodwork.”
Sin
Sin is anything I think say or do that breaks God’s law. All humans are sinners by nature and by choice. In the eyes of a holy and perfect God, the consequence of sin is death and eternity in hell.
Romans 3:23
Salvation
Salvation from sin and eternal life in heaven with God is a gift from God and must be accepted by placing faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ’s shed blood. We can do nothing to earn God’s gift of salvation.
John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Galatians 2:16
The Local Church
The purpose of the local church is to glorify God by teaching truth and creating fellowship among believers so that we can effectively serve and evangelize the world around us.
Hebrews 10:25 - not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Matthew 5:16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Acts 13:47 - For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
Marriage
Marriage was ordained by God from the very beginning to be a union between one man and one woman for life.
Ephesians 5:31
Hebrews 13:4
Matthew 19:6 - So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Men and women are created in the image of God. Men and women are equal but different and and have strengths that complement each other. Gender is determined by God in the womb and is either male or female.
Genesis 1:27
Psalm 139:13-14
Abortion
Human life, which begins at conception, is precious to God. Every human life is uniquely created by God. Just as it is wrong to take an innocent human life outside of the womb; it is wrong to take an innocent life inside the womb.
Psalm 139:13-14
Psalm 127:3-5
Psalm 22:10
Isaiah 44:24
