I'm so happy to be back in the garden with my close friend Toilisa Choice @choices.and.chances and FINALLY sharing my salvation story. Acknowledging, accepting, and walking with Jesus has truly changed my life and I am passionate about helping others find truth and get set free as well.

Meet me in the garden for a solo episode as I share one of my favorite parables, “The Parable of the Sower”. Recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, this parable breaks down the importance of tending to our roots and the different conditions that contribute to our effectiveness in cultivating our seed.

Today in the garden, we’re sitting with Chakayla J. Taylor-Sykes— mother, wife, entrepreneur, and cultural curator. She devotes her time to nurturing her creativity, her family, and her garden; so it was only right that we discuss what tending to her roots looks like in real life.

On today’s episode, I’m having a heart-to-heart with my dad, Jerome Gidrey Jr. Having grown through life in the rural south to a career in the United State Marine Corps, to a father of three navigating college, to a career in education for over twenty years; he is well-versed in transitions and what it takes to endure regardless of the setting. As he prepares to retire from his position as an administrator, he is looking ahead to the future to find a new expression of purpose and legacy.
Tending to your roots is about nourishing your inner seed to full bloom and beyond--so that you may bear fruit and keep on bearing; sowing seeds of transformation in the hearts of others. Here you will find inspiration to stay in the beautiful, yet sometimes, messy work of growth and evolution.
Alex discusses Tend To Your Roots and it's purpose, what you can expect from this space, and allows you a sneak peek of what's growing in her garden
