There has been much conversation concerning the traffic stop of Gabbie and Brian after a caller made allegations of domestic assault. Some say Moab Police should have arrested Laundrie. Listen to the thoughts of a career law enforcement investigator.

Yesterday, 1/12/22, several media outlets discussed the stop of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie by the Moab, Utah Police on August 12, 2021.  The reason for the recent media attention appears to be a report said to have been prepared by Capt. Brandon Ratcliffe, with the Price Utah Police Department, according to the New York Daily News, and, the Southern Utah News.
The report is said to be 102 pages long and suggests Gabby Petito should have been arrested or cited (depending on which media outlet you are reading), that the officers should be placed on probation, and should have additional training.  The investigation concluded the officer's mistakes were not intentional. 
The report acknowledges there is no way to know if different actions taken by the officers in Moab would have had any influence on the tragic outcome .
