Cognitive Agility has to do with openness to new, different, or divergent perspectives. In short, it is the trait we need if ever we are to change our mind. It is ability to rethink our assumptions and entertain new possibilities. This might sound simple, but it can be pretty difficult. Spiritual agility, the ability to adjust your thinking and choices in accordance to the leading of the Holy Spirit, is essential to spiritual formation. We look at the direction change of a man named Paul as a guide in mental agility!

Resilience is about bouncing back from disruption. It is adapting and responding well to difficult experiences. It is the ability to tolerate stress and keep going. It is the difference between being fragile and agile in the face of difficulty.

So far, what 2020 has taught us is that sometimes unexpected and unpleasant things happen. Sometimes things fall apart. When chaos taks over, even our best plans seem useless. Right now, it seems like we can have a plan and a backup plan and then both are going to end up in the trash and we are going to make it up as we go! The future is hard to predict, and so, I think we need FLEXIBILITY. Learn from Paul's journey to Rome, where nothing went according to plan, yet he chose to thrive anyway.

As we wrap up our series, we explore the nature of love itself. Love in our cultural understanding is primarily emotional. In scripture, we find something very different. Love is a volitional reality; an act of the will and not a feeling. John reminds us to love WITH ACTION and IN TRUTH. We learn this kind of love in the Cross of Christ.

We have talked in this series about loving God, loving our neighbors, and even loving ourselves. And not we turn to the most difficult and yet the most uniquely “Christian” expression of love: the love for our enemies. This might be one of the most ignored commands Jesus ever gave, and yet where it is practiced it has accomplished more cultural influence and transformation than any other commandment.

What would it mean to live as a dearly loved child of God? It would mean security. It would mean trust. It would mean wonder. It would mean that we have nothing to prove, because we know our worth. It would mean that we have nothing to fear, because we trust in the care of our father and mother.

It is one of the most famous parables of Jesus, and one of the most misunderstood. The original story had the impact of a punch in the gut. Listen to the story of the compassionate Samaritan, and learn what it means to love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus taught that your entire life should be centered around one thing: Love. The Love of God and Love of others, these are the most important realities in our lives.
