God is moving near to us in the person of Jesus, and we are invited to respond and draw near to Him. Almost right away, when people searched for the right word to express this sense of the nearness of God, they used the word “rest.” Listen to how the story of weary travelers offers us rest in a season of strife.

This Christmas story begins when hope breaks into a hopeless season in unexpected ways. Still, the first people to receive this hope have to wait. They have to live through a season of tension, anticipation, and expectation that everything is going to change.

Being an ambassador of the Tangible Kingdom means you accept the mission of God as your own. It means that you shift your attitude from "someone should" to "I will" when you are faced with the problems of our world. It means we are co-hosts of heaven on earth as sons and daughters of God. We embody our "sentness" through beneficial presence and sacrificial generosity.

As ambassadors of the Kingdom Tangible, you are called to live WITH others. You are called to be a beneficial presence in your neighborhood as the embodiment of the new creation.

Religion has historically been focused on holy spaces, temples and altars where the thought is that at these holy spaces, heaven and earth intersect. Yet Jesus taught something different. He taught that the Tangible Kingdom is the intersection of heaven and earth in the temple of a believer. You are the temple of God. The Kingdom is WITHIN YOU. You are the tangible kingdom, the way you live, love, and serve. This morning is about learning and living the message of Jesus so you can embody the Kingdom of God.

The first place the Kingdom of God becomes Tangible in SO MANY stories is not the church. It is the table. If you were to read the Gospel accounts and the book of Acts, you would find that every time the Gospel goes into a new culture – the leading edge of that mission is a tangible expression of hospitality. If you look at the way the Kingdom breaks into new neighborhoods, new cities, and new cultures – it almost always starts with hospitality.

The Kingdom is something we can inhabit today, here and now. It is something we are invited to establish, to set up, right where we live, work, learn, and play. It was the compelling vision Jesus had for what the world could be. And this is what we are going to explore – how are we to experience the Kingdom of God today? What does it actually look like?

We have all been given ample opportunity from a God that created us to create, a God that sows generously and universally the seed of possibility. How can you take advantage of such grace to grow, thrive, and transform? Pete breaks it down with some practical steps.
