The Word of God has unmatched authority and power. look for the phrase "and it was so" in Genesis 1, and think of it whenever Jesus Christ speaks in the gospel accounts. The Older Testament is not lesser than the Newer. It is greater than, or equal to it. 

Fully read the story of Jonah, found in the Scroll of the Twelve (minor prophets). It is only four chapters. Look for Christ in this, and in all of the stories of the Older Testament, for the give testimony to him.
