    Episode 124 of the Texas High School football podcast with Host Taylor Arenz!  Can you believe it is already week 6 of Texas high school football! There are 11 weeks of regular season so we are getting closer to the end than that start and that seems so crazy how fast it the season is flying by!   But still a lot of games to play and if the first half of the season taught us anything this football season is full of surprises! 

    One team thought that has not surprised anyone this season is Southlake Carroll have making it all the way to the state finals last season and coming up short the Dragons are back with revenge this season putting up crazy numbers on offense and on keeping their opponent out of the end zone on defense they are a team on a mission and this week Taylor talked to one of their guys in the trenches that are helping their offense wrack up those points!  offensive lineman Tristan Dare, a Michigan commit, who made his college decision early as a junior. Tristan shares why he wanted to get his recruitment wrapped up, how it’s allowed him to lock in on football this season, and what it means to be part of such a historic program. Taylor and Tristan also talked about growing up in Southlake where kids dream of being Dragons, what it’s like playing for Coach Riley Dodge, and how last year’s state title loss has fueled this team to play with a chip on their shoulder. 

    Then continuing with the Michigan commit theme, Taylor talks with 4-Star Mansfield High School Wide Receiver Zion Robinson. Zion filled Taylor in on his journey through the recruiting process, why Ann Arbor felt like home, and what it means to have the chance to play alongside some of the nation’s top talent.  He also talks about his emotions of his senior season, his goals on the field, and the best memories he’s made so far you will enjoy getting to know Zion!     Welcome Texas High School football fans to week five of Texas High School football!  Hard to believe it is already week five! That means we are pretty much halfway through the regular season!  And this season has been full of lots of great games shaking things up all over the state!  In this week’s episode Host Taylor Arenz talks with many of the stars of week four shocking games and you will get to hear all about the excitement of the game and how the teams fought for their victory. 

    Kicking off the episode is Forney High School senior running back Javian Osborne, a Notre Dame commit, Javian joins the show to talk about his journey and what’s ahead. Osborne takes us inside the highs and lows of the recruiting process, why he chose Notre Dame, and the moment he knew it was the right fit and much more! 

    Then, Taylor talks with Waxahachie quarterback Jerry Meyer III, a TCU commit, Jerry lead the Indians to one of the most shocking wins of the Texas high school football season. Meyer helped orchestrate an 18 point second half comeback as Waxahachie stunned nationally ranked Duncanville 28–27 in a Friday night classic. He talks about the game and his TCU commitment! 

    Tioga High School senior Greeley McAden  has been putting up video-game numbers all season, and he joins the show to share his story. Playing for a 2A program in a small Texas town, McAden has become both a leader on the field and a role model in the community. Taylor and Greeley talk about what life is like at Tioga High, the pride of representing a small town on Friday nights, and the emotions of playing his senior season. Greeley reflects on his leadership style, favorite memories, and what it means to have younger kids in the community looking up to him.

    Wrapping up the episode is Rockwall running back Kaydon Castro fresh off a career night in one of the biggest upsets of the Texas high school football season. Castro rushed for three touchdowns as the Yellowjackets shocked defending state champion North Crowley 37–35, snapping their 19-game regular-season winning streak. Kaydon talks about life at Rockwall High, what a typical week of practice looks like, and how he balances school and football. He takes us inside the wild back-and-forth game.

    Episode 122 Host Taylor Arenz talks with wide receivers that made big plays in Week 3 of Texas High School football. 

    First up Clear Falls wide receiver Zachary Greer joins the show to talk about his senior season, the emotions of wearing the Knights jersey one last time, and the goals he’s set for himself his final season. He shares advice for younger athletes chasing their own dreams and reflects on what’s made his final year so special so far.

    We also break down his incredible Week 3 performance against Cy Falls, where Greer hauled in 12 catches for 193 yards and four touchdowns, including the go ahead score on a dramatic 4th and 18 with just 23 seconds left. Zachary takes us inside that clutch moment, what works so well in his connection with quarterback Kyden Barker. 

    Then Taylor talks with Frenship wide receiver Chase Campbell.  Chase joins the podcast to talk about his senior season, what it means to take the field one last time, and the goals he’s set for himself and his team. He also shares advice for younger players and reflects on the highlights of his final year so far.

    Chase then takes us inside his recruitment journey and his summer commitment to Texas Tech and why he chose the Red Raiders, what he enjoyed most about the process, and what made it stressful at times. He offers perspective for athletes just beginning the recruiting experience.

    Then they turn to his big Week 3 performance, where Chase hauled in seven catches for 198 yards and two touchdowns in Frenship’s first win of the season, a 61-14 victory over Wichita Falls Legacy. He talks about his chemistry with quarterback Quade Ferris, how challenging non-district games are preparing the Tigers for district play, and what leadership means to him as a senior. It is a great episode!

    Episode 121 of the Texas HS Football podcast Host Taylor Arenz talks with Cibola Steele RB  4 Star Jonathan Hatton, one of the top high school football players in Texas and a Texas A&M commit. Taylor and Jonathan talk about everything from balancing life in the classroom and on the field, to his whirlwind recruitment journey that brought in more than 30 offers before he chose the Aggies. Jonathan shares what made A&M the perfect fit, the biggest lessons he learned through the process, and how it feels to finally have that decision behind him.T hey also dive into his senior season with the Knights, including his electric 94-yard touchdown in Week 1, his two-touchdown performance against Reagan, and what he believes makes both his offense and defense so strong. 

    Then, Taylor talks with Panhandle High School Broxton Robinson the do-it-all quarterback, running back, and linebacker for Panhandle High School and an Army commit. Broxton shares what made West Point the perfect fit, how he feels about moving to running back at the next level, and what it meant for a Division I program to find him in a small 2A town of just over 2,000 people. He also gives advice to young athletes who dream of being recruited from small schools just like his. They also discuss Panhandle’s explosive start to the season, including a 71–0 shutout in Week 1 and a statement win over rival Stratford in Week 2 and Broxton talks about what’s clicking on offense and defense, how the team has embraced the high expectations of being ranked, and why this year feels special.

  • Episode 120: QB Isaiah Gaitan; OT Zaden Krempin; RB/LB Ashton Ruffin

    It is Week Two of Texas High School football and in Episode 120, Host Taylor Arenz talks to three players whose team had big success in their first time out on the field. First up is Pieper Warriors quarterback Isaiah Gaitan. Isaiah has been making a name for himself for years. At Cornerstone Christian, he threw for over 4,500 career yards and 38 touchdowns, and now he’s bringing that talent to Pieper. In his very first game with the Warriors, he accounted for three touchdowns and helped lead his team to a big 35–28 win over Boerne. Taylor and Isaiah talked about how he’s built chemistry with his new teammates, and what it means to step onto the field for his senior year. He also shared his advice for younger players, what he’s looking forward to this season and more. 

    Then Taylor talked with Prosper senior offensive lineman Zaden Krempin.   Zaden has been big on the recruiting trail and back in June he announced his commitment to Texas A&M after holding more offers than any player in the state, with 53.  Taylor and Zaden talked about what that recruiting process was like, the moment he knew College Station was home, and the advice he has for younger athletes chasing those same opportunities. He also talks about the Eagles big Week One win over Westlake and much more! 

    We wrapped up Episode 120 with La Porte’s running back Ashton Ruffin who help lead the Bulldogs to their first win on the opening night in their brand new 56 million dollar stadium. He filled me all in on all the “Border Battle” rivalry game excitement and how after two years of being without a true home field, the community finally got to pack the stands, and Ashton helped deliver a night they’ll never forget. He rushed for 194 total yards and scored three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 36-yard run in the fourth quarter that sealed the win. We hear all about it and more in this fun episode that talks all about kicking off the 2025 Season!

    Week 1 of Texas High School football is finally here!  The road to AT&T starts this week and the excitement of the players and coaches being back on the field to see how all their hard work this summer looks on the field!

    This week Host Taylor Arenz talked with three senior standouts who will be taking the field this week for their “last first game” of high school football. All three are committed to playing at the next level, and in this episode they share their journeys, emotions, and goals heading into their senior seasons.

    First, Taylor catches up with Christopher and Carter Stewart from Alvin Shadow Creek. Chris, a 4 star wide receiver committed to the Texas Longhorns, and Carter, a 3 star safety committed to Utah, talk about growing up as brothers on opposite sides of the ball, their recruiting experiences, and the emotions of running onto the field one last time together. They also reflect on Shadow Creek’s surprising playoff exit last year and how it has fueled their motivation for 2025.

    Then, Taylor talks with 4 Star DL Alister Vallejo a senior at Liberty Hill who is committed to play at Michigan. He opens up about his recruiting process, why Michigan was the right choice, and how it feels to have the pressure of recruiting behind him before his senior year. Alister also discusses Liberty Hill’s transition under new head coach Kent Seaborn and what he’s looking forward to most in his final season as a Panther.
