Texas Steampunk Connection

Jack has come down with Covid and is tweaking on DayQuil with all new symptoms. We're extra punchy tonight, and drinking a little extra. Jack dissects his attempts to understand Dune as a child as we talk about favorite books. We hit on so many books and shows that I can't list them all. Some are steampunk.

Thax, Jack and Bluestocking wish you a happy new year! Time for the traditional complaints about Texas weather, and last year's winter disaster. The drinks tonight are hideously sweet. We have some new books to recommend, and a forgotten movie that Thax loves. We ramble a bit, but its always a good time.

Thax, Jack and Bluestocking get ready for holidays, despite ancient curses and horrid cocktails. Need last minute gifts? We've got you covered. A strange trunk that appears on the street out of nowhere? We've got one! Stupid ways to kill or maim yourself? We know a few.

Thax, Jack and Bluestocking sit down with two guests tonight! Mick Ryder, owner of Greek Gods Giggling, and regular fan of the show sits in, and tells us about one of his favorite Steampunk shows. Laura Meyer, professional historical costumer and teacher, tells us about her new book on Victorian garments and construction, and the kickstarter that is only days from closing! Thax, Jack and Bluestocking are here to talk Steampunk again! Already off topic with our experience in higher education and cost accounting? We stall for a guest, but it doesn't work out. We do get to talk about a great new book, The Kingdoms, that plays with concepts of timelines. Circque du Soleil is touring again, and can be found free on the 'tubes. Netflix has come out with Arcane, an Ay-May-Zing new show based on characters from the League of Legends video game. Jungle Cruise is now streaming on Disney+, so check that out too!

Thax, Jack and Bluestocking are joined by Omar, the M0vie N1nja, to chew the fat. We discuss the dangers of buying cryptocurrency based on TV shows, and our Halloween experiences. A new children's show on Netflix that might be too scary for grownups, a steampunk comic that may have been overlooked, and some of Omar's favorite goofball films!

Thax, Jack and Erika salute the passing of our founder, Flavio, who drove this podcast for the last four (five?)  years. He was a friend, a traveling companion, a cheerleader for our victories, he was always ready to jump in with both feet to any adventure that came up. We meander through Texas Barbecue to the matrix to the latest boomer "Steampunk is dead" article. We're going to push forward with the show Flavio started and hope he approves from wherever he is watching now.

Flavio, Thax and guest host, Natalie MacTavish share drinks and talk about sour beer, scary sirens, and sweet doggos. Steampunk November has been cancelled... again, thanks to Covid. Steve Metze' Lovecraft Kickstarter is blowing up. We also talk about a comic, The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty, a short apocalyptic animated series called Autodale, and how steampunk Wicked the musical really got. Also a weird horror game called Bendy and the Ink Machine. Is this for kids?
