Battle Music in Star Trek.
The Star Trek franchise tells many stories including stories of love, betrayal, exploration, mystery, and intrigue. One type of story has been told several times in Star Trek, and that story is WAR. It is a story that can be told in many ways. Sad. Melancholy. Epic. Brave.
In this episode of Melodic Treks, host Brandon-Shea Mutala focuses on the militaristic side of the final frontier, and shares a special themed episode on the battle music of Star Trek.

Children of the Storm.
When Kirsten Beyer took over the "Voyager relaunch," she breathed new life into a series that many Trek fans dismissed the first time around. Crafting stories that feature well-developed and fascinating characters and embody the best qualities of Star Trek, Beyer took Voyager and made it amazing, and the subject of this week's episode of Literary Treks is the perfect example.
In this episode of Literary Treks hosts Matthew Rushing, Dan Gunther and Bruce Gibson talk about the Star Trek Voyager book Children of the Storm. We discuss figuring things out, character relationships, the way to Eden, a crush, the life, anger and mistrust, being Star Trek and ratings.
In the news we talk about the upcoming DTI ebook The Shield of the Gods, Face of the Unknown audio book, upcoming comics and a comic art exhibit.

Mudd's Passion. Roger C. Carmel is back as Harry Mudd, this time swindling miners with a love potion. Yay?! Yeah, not so much. The Harry Mudd character had been pretty well mined, pun fully intended, and in the 21st century is somewhat problematic. So, what do we do when an episode may not be our favorite? Why, we dive deeper!
We look at an unused shuttle seen in the background of the shuttle bay, postulate on the connection between the Ursanoids and D.C. Fontana’s original concept for a founding member species of the Federation, we even talk about spectacular failures of rail-based romantic-comedy TV shows!
So join us in our review of “Mudd’s Passion” where the sum of the parts are greater than the whole.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.
In 2007, Harry Potter fans read the last story in J.K. Rowling’s epic tale, but luckily still had the rest of the films to look forward to, but with one surprise they were not expecting, the last film would not be just one movie, but two!
In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by fellow wizard on the run Andrea Coffman to talk about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. We discuss it being broken up, things we missed, the Malfoys, Ministry narratives, the feels, a road war film, doubt and fear, deaths and ratings.

"Author, Author" Commentary.
Just about any episode centered around The Doctor is likely to be entertaining. What's better than that? Well, what about an episode that's as entertaining as it is thought-provoking? Cue Voyager's "Author, Author," which aired in the last third of the seventh season. Motivated by the knowledge that EMH Mark I holograms like himself have been relegated to menial jobs, The Doctor has written "Photons Be Free," a holonovel that is loosely based on his experience aboard Voyager. But when the crew sees thinly-veiled exaggerations of themselves being portrayed in the program, they're not exactly happy. Join Tristan and Char in this episode of To The Journey as they break out the quills, the smoking jackets and the Netflix as they comment on the shenanigans that ensue as The Doctor fights for his intellectual property rights.
