Kerry O’Quinn Interview.
To say that Kerry O’Quinn had an impact on sci-fi fans of the ‘70s and ’80s is like saying Gene Roddenberry may have had some influence on television. Starting in another genre—soap operas—Kerry and his partner built a publishing powerhouse and expanded to magazines like Cinematic, Future Life, Starlog, and Fangoria, which is still being published today.
In this episode of Saturday Morning Trek, host Aaron Harvey is joined by O’Quinn to share how he was writing a blog before there was such a thing, how he brought Star Trek and Star Wars together, and why so many people told him he was going to hell. Maybe he will run into Lucien there! Friend, Kerry!

Thunderball.
In 1958 author Ian Fleming becomes enamored with the idea of a Bond film and though the connection of his friend Ivar Bryce, meets Kevin McClory who along with script writer Jack Whittingham work on a story. Fleming becomes bored with the process and writes Thunderball, based in part on the script leading to a legal suit that keeps Thunderball from becoming the first Bond movie and instead becomes the fourth when the issue is finally resolved out of court in 1963.
In this episode of The 602 Club host Matthew Rushing is joined by 00 agent John Champion to talk about the James Bond adventure Thunderball. We discuss Bond history, bigger, better and tired, Bond needs a holiday, a devious plot, worthy villains, women of substance and more.

Debriefing Jeffrey.
Travis Mayweather was born aboard the ECS Horizon on the Draylax–Vega Colony run, and he grew up on the ship. Would he be considered an Earther? This is just one of the questions we ask as in this episode oF Warp Five as co-host Jeffrey Harlan bids farewell to the NX-01.
In addition to Travis’s origins, we also discuss how a book from Travis’s childhood affected an entire civilization, debate whether “In a Mirror Darkly” is really one of the best Star Trek episodes, and whether “These Are the Voyages” is really the worst. Join us as co-host Floyd Dorsey treats Jeffrey to a Chef’s buffet of topics before sending him off to school in a shuttlepod of his own.
