  • Saturday Morning Trek : 17: Saturday Morning Nights

    Once Upon a Planet.

The Enterprise crew revisits the fondly remembered "amusement park" planet, hoping for some rest and relaxation—which of course turns into kidnapping and the near destruction of the ship.

Filmation has always had a bad reputation for sloppy animation and stilted storytelling. Unfortunately, we my have found one of the episodes where this is somewhat deserved.

In this episode of Saturday Morning Trek, hosts Aaron Harvey and Adam Drosin talk the pros and cons of this animated sequel to "Shore Leave," and take you on a Journey from Star Trek to Isis (no, not that one) to Baywatch Nights. Yes, Baywatch Nights! Kirk gets to talk down a computer, Uhura sings, and Sulu is in two places at once. Grab your two-headed dragon and join the fun!

  • Stage Nine : 14: Breaking the Fifth Wall
    Ocean's Eleven.

Running Time: 42 minutes 49 seconds

Six years before writing the first episode of Star Trek ("The Man Trap"), George Clayton Johnson was part of the team that helped to bring the original Ocean's Eleven to the big screen. Lewis Milestone's Rat Pack movie, starring Frank Sinatra, spawned a remake in 2001. That remake, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney. That remake led to two sequels, as well as Ocean's Ocho, an upcoming film directed by Gary Ross and starring Sandra Bullock.

In this episode of Stage Nine, John and Mike continue their fiftieth anniversary celebration of Star Trek by looking at the other franchise that Johnson originated. We discuss the problems with the original, how the remake fixed them, whether or not the sequels are any good, and what we can expect to see in the spinoff. In news, we discuss the hiring of David Mack and Mike Johnson to help in the creation of a Discovery expanded universe.

  • To The Journey : 182: No Money. No Problems

    Career Paths in the Future.

You're 18 years old and a fresh graduate of Zefram Cochrane High School. The whole galaxy is your oyster. What do you do with your life?

In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan talk about the sort of life they would lead if money wasn't a factor in the workforce. While it's unfortunate that most of us don't have such a luxury in the 21st century, people in the 24th century do; in fact, one of Star Trek's biggest messages of hope is that some of our greatest problems (often connected to money) will be gone in the future. With basic life needs met and a social mentality of bettering humanity, what sort of things do Char and Tristan think they would do if they lived in the 24th century? Would factors such as education affect their attainment goals? Would their callings be the same? Listen on, find out, and ponder your own ideal self in the future.

  • Mission Log : 201 - A Matter of Time

Professor Berlinghoff Rasmussen is a blast from the future. He is here to study his history in its natural habitat: back in time. He has picked a boring mission to study though. It is just a run of the mill "save 20-million people from disaster" cake walk. Yet the presence of Rasmussen makes the crew of the Enterprise think there is more going on than they know. History happens now when we put A Matter of Time in the Mission Log.
