On the show tonight I talked with Aphrose (whose "YaYa" we just debuted last week) about her musical past and her forthcoming LP, and with Australian Ziggy Alberts (who returns to Winnipeg to play The Park Theatre on August 5th) about his prolific output and how he writes songs.

Brittain Ashford's Trotter has a place on my 2023 running longlist and I had the chance to talk to her about making it. I've also been swept up in Joel Goodman's An Exquisite Moment and had the opportunity to discuss the album with Goodman.

It's another Jazzfest preview as I speak to Aline Homzy of Aline's etoile magique about how she ended up playing jazz violin, and with pianist Will Bonness whose new album Is This A Dream? is out today. I also speak to Justin Bear and Jory Thomas, the organizers of Kiskithihta Mīthokwesowin: Discovering our Gifts a School of Art program that gets its launch next Wednesday, June 21st at the School of Art Gallery on campus and then runs programs over the summer aimed to "inspir(e) the next generation of Indigenous artists."

It's an all Jazz Fest episode as I talk to Ernesto Cervini prior to his band Turboprop playing Old Market Square, Laila Biali discusses her involvement in The Ostara Project as well as the release of her new album Your Requests, and pianist Gentiane MG discusses what led her from classical to jazz before she brings her new album to the Royal Albert Arms.

Local legend Fred Penner joins me by phone to talk about the delayed 40th anniversary of The Cat Came Back and playing Kidsfest next week.

Then I'm joined by Bobbi Hunter, former organizer with Greenpeace about the book on her husband (and co-founder of the organization), Bob Hunter - Mr. Mindbomb which is out via Rocky Mountain Press. We discuss putting the book together, Bob's connection to Winnipeg and his incredible life, captured by those who knew him.
