  • Jimmy Stafford

Jimmy Stafford is an American musician-songwriter who was an original member of the Grammy Award-winning band Train from its inception in 1994 until he parted ways with the band in 2016. His unique style of guitar playing helped give Train its distinctive sound.

Jimmy recorded eight albums with Train, selling more than 10 million copies and 30 million tracks. With Train, he was nominated for eight Grammy Awards (winning three, including best rock song for "Drops of Jupiter" in 2002), three American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards (winning both top rock song for "Hey, Soul Sister" and top rock artist in 2011), an ASCAP Music Award (winning song of the year for "Hey, Soul Sister" in 2011), a CMT Music Award, a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, and a Peoples Choice Award. He has toured the world many times over, performing for large audiences in North America, China, the Philippines, Dubai, Europe, Singapore, South America, Japan, and Australia, appearing on countless television and radio shows worldwide. In 2011 Train founded the Save Me San Francisco Wine Company which Jimmy was heavily involved in, from helping to choose the blends of their many varietals (all named after their hit songs or lyrics), to hosting events and tastings, to appearing at promotional bottle signings and meeting with local distributors in cities where Train was on tour.

After his final tour with Train in the fall of 2016, Jimmy returned home to Nashville and discovered a batch of unfinished songs he had written during his tenure with Train and became inspired to finish some of them. He continued to write and by April 2017 had accumulated dozens of songs, the best of which he decided to record and release independently. His debut solo album titled "No Man's Land" was released in November 2017. Jimmy wrote and produced the album as well as performed much of the music. Inspired by the process, Jimmy continued to write and record, and in April 2018 he released his second album "Shine Like The Sun." Jimmy wrote, produced, and performed everything on the album. Since then, Jimmy has continued to write, record, and release new music.

Those who know Jimmy will tell you that he has always had a passion for music. As a young boy growing up in Morris, Illinois - a small town just an hour south of Chicago - Jimmy would build pretend guitars from scraps of wood and lip-sync to his favourite records until he was able to buy his first real guitar at the age of twelve from the money he earned working on local farms. His passion for music along with his growing ambition and determination to succeed took him to Hollywood fresh out of high school, where he graduated from the Musician's Institute and played in several bands throughout the '80s and early '90s including the Apostles, the band that would eventually dissolve and regroup in San Francisco along with Pat Monahan to become Train in the summer of 1994.

Maintaining a work-life balance is a common problem in today’s era. People devote more than half of their days to their bosses and companies.

Some people do it because they love their jobs and don’t mind spending extra hours doing what they love. Others work to earn some extra cash. No matter what the case, working for long hours exhausts us.

But, do you know what’s more exhausting even when you are passionate about your job? It's workplace bullying that drains the person mentally.

The term workplace bullying refers to mocking or targeted behaviour at work. The employee is bullied by his colleagues, seniors, juniors, and sometimes even the bosses.

According to 2017 research from the Workplace Bullying Institute:

    • 70% of males and 30% of females are bullies.
    • Women are more likely the target of bullies.

Bullying from bosses and seniors accounts for 61% of the bullying. Followed by bullying from co-workers, which is 33%. Only 6% of bullying comes from junior-level people, which is 6%.

  • Dominic Littlewood & Ed Fisher

With many of us eager to make our homes and gardens Summer ready, people need to keep vigilant on the signs of a dodgy deal, especially with crooked invoices and rogue scammers on the loose.

The two crimes - one old and one new – form the two sides of the same coin when conning people out of their hard-earned money for work that is either done shoddily or in many cases not at all.

Although many of us do our research when it comes to looking for tradespeople – 65% take recommendations from family and friends, women are more like to do so than men (75%), 46% use websites like check-a-trade and 43% look at reviews, just under one in ten (9%) would choose a tradesperson based on the lowest price and nearly half (44%) know someone or have had someone do work on their home that was such as poor standard they had to get it fixed. More than half of people (54%) have had someone knock on their door offering to do work on their home according to new research from the Nationwide Building Society.

Of those that did have to fix some unacceptable work, it cost, on average, £4,514 for kitchens, £3,300 for bathrooms and £2,861 for electrical work. Surprisingly, 15% of people thought did nothing about it.

Worryingly, there is a lack of knowledge when it comes to spotting these fraudsters with 35% not knowing they could intercept genuine emails or texts, and 21% of people authorising payments even when the bank has flagged it looks suspicious – rising to 36% of 16-24s, with 34% admitting to having been left out of pocket.

Rogue Trader catcher, Dominic Littlewood, has joined forces with Nationwide Building Society to explore people’s lack of knowledge and awareness around Rogue Trade scammers and point out how to look out for those dodgy deals to stop more people from being tricked in the future.
