On this week’s episode, we welcome Gina Ariko to the podcast! Gina is a Japanese-American artist living in Seattle. While she grew up in the US, she has deep ties to her family roots in Japan. This is especially true for the art that has always played a central role in her life and memories. For her art is a way to communicate when we don’t have the words. For her, the shared love of art with her mom's parents (her jichan and baachan) continues to influence her and the way she views art as a way to connect and honor.
Amber sits down with Gina to talk about taking her art full time, and the influence her Japanese heritage and family have had on her art. They also talk about the intersection of language and art, and how being creative or an artist in the age of the internet comes with a need for boundaries and learning how to grow and maintain your craft without sacrificing your well-being or sanity!

On this week’s episode, we have Amber sitting down at the mic to talk through how the change of seasons can impact our routines, our behaviors, and how our bodies feel. We know Seasonal Affective Disorder often hits in the winter as the doom and gloom of darker days set in, but we don’t hear a lot about the summer blues. Summer is supposed to be nothing but bright happy days, but what about when it isn’t?
Amber talks through what it’s like to have an “energy crisis” in the summer, the research she’s done on the topic, and her personal experiences dealing with and combatting the effects that summer Seasonal Affective disorder can have on our daily lives. If you’ve been feeling down, whether it’s the general state of the world or hormones doing their thing, you’re not alone and this episode is for you!

On this week’s episode, we are nerd-ing out on all things self-care and planning content! Imani is an attorney by day, a dog lover, and fellow planner and stationery connoisseur. Today, we are talking about the intersections of self-care, planning, and journaling and how to plan time to check in with yourself in ways that are meaningful and sustainable.
Imani walks us through her own self-care journey and how planning on paper and now in digital form has informed how she shows up herself If you’re a paper lover, a stationary hoarder (no shame), or have been looking for insight on how to make that jump to digital planners you’ll want to give this one a listen!

On this week’s episode, we’re on a mission! It can’t be just us left confused when interacting with the bros. Whether it’s our significant others, our friends, or even our brothers, we are perplexed. The guys are something else so we’re sitting down with an expert. Husband, father, artist, and to date one of only two men to sit down for an interview on our show!
As one of Amber’s best friends, Izzy is here to give us an inside look on guy code and how the journey through self-reflection and leaning into vulnerability helps us become better partners, better friends, and better people. But don’t worry we also talk about the mess that is dating these days and advice on how to navigate that whole ghetto scene.

This week we have a very special episode of Thank you for Asking! In this new season of the show, we wanted to rethink how we’re engaging with you all on our no guests episodes. Today, then, is the very first time that in addition to having Amber share her thoughts and experiences on a topic we’ll get to hear from all of you! So, a big thank you to everyone who called in and left voicemails!
In this episode, we’ll be diving into how we feel and don’t feel about living alone. Amber shares her own experiences so far with different living situations and what living alone has meant for her. We’ll also get to hear from our TYFA community and what the idea or reality of living alone has been for many of you. If you currently live alone, have thought about it, or know it’s in your future Amber also shares the lessons she’s learned and her advice on how to live your best when you’re living alone.

On this week’s episode, we have a guest we’ve been wanting to introduce to you all for far too long! Hitha Palepu is a master class on how to be a multi-hyphenate! She likes to say she is a pharmaceutical executive by day, but we call her “Our Inspiration!” Adding to that, she is also a mom, an author, a content creator, and a bona fide nerd and romance novel aficionado!
Hitha has had such a big impact in Amber’s life and we can’t wait to share this conversation with you. They talk through career, the joy in never mastering but always learning, and how being smart and informed can be less overwhelming than you think!

On this week’s episode, we sit down with Azanique Rawl an OG blogger, and Austin-based life and style content creator. We talk about her early days as a blogger and how she has channeled her passion for style and interior decor into helping others find theirs. We talk about living alone and how to plan for and make wherever you live work for you.
Not only does Azanique seem to do everything at once, but she does it with grace and humility! She talks with Amber about how she has always sought to center advocacy in her work and how helping others starts with taking care of yourself. She also has all the book recommendations for us so get your notepads ready!
