Working in Emergency Management has taught me how interagency coordination through federal, state and local government, as well as private and civilian employees, volunteers, and contractors, can create working relationships for the betterment of society, in spite of different organizations, structures, and personality types.

During Thanksgiving Day football, an interesting conversation came up with a family member that lead me to look more into the history of the term "Redskin".  I think it's a good thing Washington changed it's name, and I don't think it's just about people being overly sensitive or offended.  

Note: I made an error in stating the newspaper article's year.  I said "1836" when it was actually "1863".  Also, the name of the newspaper was the "Daily Republican".
