During Day 5 of rehearsals, we were so fortunate to be joined by The Black Mamba representing Portugal in Rotterdam this year. Speaking to Rory, the band revealed their initial reactions to their first rehearsal. They also spoke about their making history by singing in English for the first time in Eurovision history for Portugal.
The band also give some fantastic music recommendations from their latest album, and delve into the story of “Love Is On My Side”, which will represent their country in Rotterdam on May 20th.

Before rehearsals started, we had the absolute pleasure of speaking Gjon’s Tears from Switzerland. Singing “Tout L’univers” this year, Gjon spoke to us about the English version of his song – “Ground Zero”, and even gave us a little snippet to listen to! We also discussed his chances of success at the Contest, what he does to relax and a film recommendation that you all need to watch.

As we roll into rehearsals, it’s time to reflect on the national finals that we have been fortunate enough to have this year. From Melodifestivalen to Ha’Shir Shelanu L’Eurovizion, we were spoiled for choice for potential Eurovision songs. We weren’t able to decide on the winners ourselves, so we gave the choice over to you! We gave you several categories to vote on, and this week’s podcast episode is going to reveal the second half of your results. Are you ready for all the drama of an awards ceremony, just without the pomp and pageantry?
The first half of the awards were revealed earlier this week.
What do you think of the results of the second half of categories? Do you think the winners are deserved? Who would you choose to win each of the categories? As always, tell us in the comments below or at social media. Don’t forget to follow ‘THAT Eurovision Site’ over at Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

We had the fantastic opportunity to talk to Jendrik Sigwart – the German representative for Eurovision this year. Speaking to Rory and Rosie, Jendrik detailed the story of his song – “I Don’t Feel Hate” and how there is a distinction between “hate” and hate crime.
You can watch our interview with Jendrik below:
Jendrik also shared the story of how he discovered he was going to represent Germany in Rotterdam – with the help of a little poor timing. We also delve into his knowledge of Eurovision and ask whether the now famous washing machines will join him on stage in May.

As we edge ever closer to the beginning of rehearsals in May, it’s time to delve into our deep thoughts on the competing songs. Therefore, we start to review each of the songs competing in the first half of the first semi-final. We also give our thoughts on Israel, who revealed the revamped version of “Set Me Free”.
We also recorded this episode hours before Belarus was officially disqualified from Eurovision 2021. As a result, our references to Belarus are now….rather outdated.
