Dan Barker is an American atheist activist, author,  and musician who served as an evangelical Christian preacher and composer for 19 years but left Christianity in 1984. He is the current co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) with his wife Annie Laurie Gaylor. Barker has written numerous articles for Freethought Today, an American freethought newspaper. He is the author of several books on deconstruction from evangelicalism and finding new meaning and value in life as an atheist.

When Alice Greczyn’s parents felt called by God to exchange worldly employment for heavenly provision, they followed their faith into homelessness with five children and a cat in tow. Homeschooled and avowed never to kiss a man until her wedding day, Alice had plans to escape the instability by becoming a missionary nurse—plans that were put on hold with the unexpected opportunity to be an actress in Hollywood. What followed was a test of faith unlike any she had prepared for, an arranged betrothal she never saw coming, and a psychological shattering that forced her to learn how to survive without the only framework for life she had ever known.  Alice is an actress in L.A. and author of her memoir, "Wayward," a coming-of-age story within a Christian subculture that teaches children to be martyrs and women to be silent. She is the founder of  DaretoDoubt.org, a resource site for people detaching from belief systems they come to find harmful.

Dave Warnock was diagnosed with ALS on February 26, 2019, and was told that it was a terminal illness with no real treatment.  Indu Navar lost her husband to ALS a few months later on August 13, 2019. During her husband's illness Indu struggled with the realization that although there were promising therapies for ALS in trials, treatments had little chance of being FDA approved without clinical biomarkers to show a treatment is working. Biomarkers are a standard measurement tool that amazingly this disease does not really have. Currently ALS progression is measured mostly subjectively through manual muscle tests and a pen and paper survey.   Determined not to let her husband's death be in vain, Indu started an organization called Everything ALS which conducts their own research to identify biomarkers in ALS patients and makes this information available to pharmaceutical and bio-tech companies.  Dave became an team member of EverythingALS in July 2021 as a patient liaison currently battling ALS. Tonight they discuss how Everything ALS intends to create a path to FDA approved ALS treatments - and possibly one day a cure. Dave and Indu also need your help, as a participant in their biomarker studies. They need both people with ALS and without as a control group. Dr. Joshua Bowen graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 2017, with a Ph.D. in Assyriology. He wrote his dissertation on the lamentational liturgies of the city of Kiš, and specializes in the Sumerian language. As well as his Ph.D., Bowen holds a B.S. in Religion from Liberty University, a Th.M. in the Old Testament from Capital Bible Seminary, and a M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to entering academia, Bowen was a chaplain in the U.S. Airforce where he also gained an A.A. in Avionics.  Bowen is the author of The Atheist Guide to the Old Testament, hosts the Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near East (HeBANE) podcast, and co-hosts the Digital Hammurabi podcast and YouTube channel with his wife, Megan Lewis.
