Adam Ferguson, Chief Commercial Officer, Daft.ie tells us about Daft's expansion plans in the real estate business. He's also a man of many pivots as he explains how studying Ag. Science led to selling houses! Daft.ie has...300,000 people viewing online (in Ireland only) every day!!! He wants more transparency in online bidding so buyers can bid 24-hours a day - and buyers can also see what level the most recent bid is at. They have also introduced a valuation function that can, where possible, what a house should be worth. And, are they going to become a mortgage broker? Interestingly for auctioneers, Virtual Reality doesn't look like it's going to replace estate agents in the short term, he says. He also says they may have a tool that will help keep the tyre-kickers (and nosey neighbours) away from viewings. He wants renters to get credit for their history of paying rent over years.

Colm Fagan, former Society of Actuaries President, shares his radical (and award winning) solution on how the 700,000 Irish citizens currently without pensions, can extract a much better pension at up to half the costs from the Government's proposed Auto-Enrollment scheme. It's so good he has tried to patent the idea! We keep it simple on That Great Business Show, so what he says is totally comprehensible. And why has he seen pushback from the State authorities in charge of auto-enrollment? Because, they say it hasn't be tried. But, as he also says, that's because he's only just revealed his idea and it hasn't been done anywhere else in the world. He quotes Homer Simpson's response, 'D'Oh!'. He wants the ESRI to check out the idea and to give it a thumbs up or down. We'll also be showing it to the Sage of Omaha, Warren Buffet.

3.00" Henrik Wetter Sanchez, Principal at UK based Playfair Capital VC tells us about the Irish companies they have invested in, the types and sizes of the companies they will invest in, and those that they definitely will not. Cheque sizes start at €100,000 but can run to millions, they receive 2,000 website applications a year. He says that they read absolutely every one of them. The key is to keep it short, short and short (no more than TEN SLIDES as more will not be read). The tough news though is that only six companies a year make the final cut. But like TeamGBS alums ProtexAI, your company could be one of them. So long as your business is not into gambling (one of a shortlist of sectors they don't touch on ethical rounds). One of his favourite investments is RecycleEye (and we'd love to have them on the podcast).
