That Talking Podcast

Four years ago, we ran out of Jimmy Dean Pure Pork Sausage, and life would never be the same again. That's one way of saying we're talking about our lost favorite Big Jym. It's hard to lose someone you're so close to, and it doesn't really get much easier over time. He was a friend, companion, and brother to so many, so we're taking the time to talk about some of the fondest - and goofiest - memories of him. It's amazing what you can learn about someone just by talking to (or, in this case, about) them.

He's been in the mountains rocking out with the band. She's been at home cranking out more artwork. Why, what do you do with your vacation? It's been a HUGE long weekend for your favorite podcasters, both super productive and even a little bit fun. Now for some together time and a grrreat night's rest! It's amazing what you can learn about someone just by talking to them.

From the most absurd styles and lingos to the stuff we just grew up with as kids, fads ARE what they are. And they STILL are, even if we don't get them. But is following a fad actually the death of individuality? And what do they say about character, or even ethics? Who knew fads even ran that deep? Rule #2 has always been what? NOTHING PERSONAL! Because for some reason these days all people do is take everything personally. Every differing opinion is a personal attack or flagrantly offensive. "Oh, I didn't like that movie," and "Oh, I don't like wearing shorts," and of course "Actually I act according to my own conscience." We're not hear to change people's minds, and we're certainly not here to make anyone feel bad. But eventually, shouldn't everyone take responsibility for their own sensitivities? That's what we're talking about. It's amazing what you can learn about someone just by talking to them.

It's a veritable grab bag today! We're talking about everything from the weather and the news to social media animal videos and what it would be like if we could really change the world. Pride isn't actually a sin! Animals are people too! It's ok to look on the bright side of life! That's what we're talking about. Maybe we need to *TW* this one? We're checking in to the Hotel Mental Health (such a lovely place, such a lovely face). It's been a real trip these past few weeks, and while we've been navigating it all, the big question is, "you good?" So we're taking the time to ask each other, and ourselves, and to play in this safe space for a bit. It's amazing what you can learn about someone just by talking to them.

Fate, destiny, karma, good luck, bad luck, or even a sense of universal balance or the simple idea that everything happens for a reason. There are so many names for it - as a concept, a construct, or a fact - but still not everyone knows how they feel about it. It's such a hot button issue so much of the time, but it doesn't have to be. And that's what we're talking about. It's amazing what you can learn about people just by talking to them.

Where does a love of books even come from? Is it just the fantasy of being Belle on that rolling library ladder? Does it kick in whenever you hear "butterfly in the skyyyyy" maybe? Wherever it comes from, jj's got it. And Andy's got questions. It's like the most intense book club sesh that no one was ready for. But anyway, we're talking about old hollywood and today's PC culture, and the absolute genius of Mel Brooks - the man, the myth, the legend himself. We think too much of the formative boomer years as repressed, but were they really? And were they AT ALL compared to the demands for censorship today? The puns could really write themselves for this one, but we're not here for the puns. We're talking about the art - or perhaps the science? - of tipping. Why do we do it? To whom do we give it?
